Dog friendly boutique inn, The Old Swan & Minster Mill, nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds, is running two new puppy training weekends this year from 22nd-24th April and 21st-23rd October. Perfect for pups of all breeds needing some country etiquette training, the weekends will train puppies to a level where owners will never need to leave home without their dogs again. The five star inn, owned by the de Savary family, recently won bronze in the dog-friendly category in VisitEngland's Awards for Excellence.
The weekends are being run by leading dog training and behavioural specialists, Cotswold Pet Services. In three fun filled training sessions, puppies will be trained to a level where owners can influence their behavior and temperament. During the training puppies will be able to socialise with other puppies, teaching them to be good communicators. The training will also help keep puppies' minds active and teach owners about what makes their dog tick.
The weekends will be pooch friendly from start to finish. All guests will be accommodated in dog friendly rooms with dog beds, bowls and treats. Time has been left between the three training sessions for owners and puppies to relax at the dog friendly inn; whether it be time to play in the lovely gardens and 70 acres of beautiful grounds or a short walk along the banks of the meandering River Windrush. Puppies can even be brought to supper, where they will have a special 'dogs dinner'. Surrounding the hotel are a number of dog friendly places to visit including the idyllic Cotswolds town of Burford, the award winning farm, Daylesford Organic and the Cotswold Garden Centre.
The weekends are priced from £295 per person including two nights' accommodation for two in a cosy room, a drinks reception on arrival, a three course dinner each evening and the puppy training sessions. Guests can upgrade to River Rooms with a Riverside Terrace and Fire Pit from £375 per person. Note that there are only 15 spaces for each puppy weekend.
Arrival is from 2pm on Friday and checkout is at 11am on Sunday. On the Friday, there will be welcome drinks from 7-8pm in the Minster Mill. Dinner will be served each evening from 6.30pm to 9.30pm (reservations required). Puppy sessions will be at 10am and 4pm on Saturday and 10am on Sunday and each will last 45 minutes.
The weekends are suitable for puppies of four to ten months old. The hotel recommends that guests bring the puppy's normal diet food to avoid any upsets and a puppy cage if used at home. Wellies or walking boots are also recommended.
