HONG KONG - Jean-Jacques Reibel, Managing Director of InterContinental Hong Kong is pleased to announce the following additions to the hotel's management team, as well as recent key promotions.
Christoph Travniczek, Executive Assistant Manager - Food & Beverage
Christoph Travniczek recently joined InterContinental Hong Kong as Executive Assistant Manager - Food & Beverage. Originally from Austria where he received his degree in Hotel & Tourism Business, Christoph brings to his new position over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He has worked throughout Europe, Asia, Australia and the USA in a variety of luxury hotel companies including Le Meredien, Ritz Carlton and Grand Hyatt.
His experience includes numerous postings with Hyatt hotels, including Hyatt Hotel Canberra (a Park Hyatt Hotel), the Park Hyatt Saigon, Grand Hyatt Taipei, Grand Hyatt Seoul and the Hyatt Regency Los Angeles.
Most recently Christoph was the Executive Assistant Manager - Food & Beverage at the Ritz Carlton Shenzhen in China. Previously he worked at Le Meridien Waldorf in London and also spent several years with InterContinental Hotels in Leipzig, Germany and London, when he was based in Europe from 1996- 1999.
In Christoph's new role at InterContinental Hong Kong, he will oversee the entire Food & Beverage operations of the hotel which include 5 restaurants, 4 bar/lounges and Hong Kong's largest hotel catering/banqueting operation.
Christoph has relocated to Hong Kong with his wife who is from Korea and his young son and daughter, aged 3 and 4 respectively. When not spending time with his family, he occasionally manages to fit a round of golf or a game of squash into his busy schedule.
Bryan Chiu, Executive Assistant Manager
Bryan Chiu, formerly Executive Assistant Manager - Food & Beverage, has been promoted to Executive Assistant Manager. Bryan first joined the hotel when it was The Regent in 1988 as a Captain at Plume Restaurant. Later he was promoted to Restaurant Manager of Yü restaurant from 1999 - 2003 and then to Assistant Director of Food & Beverage from 2003 - 2005. Bryan left InterContinental Hong Kong from 2005 - 2007, when he gained experience as part of the opening team at Four Seasons Hong Kong. He then rejoined InterContinental Hong Kong as Director of Food & Beverage in November 2007.
Angela Chu, Director of Revenue Management
Angela Chu has recently joined InterContinental Hong Kong as Director of Revenue Management. Previously she was Director of Revenue Management at the W Hong Kong. Prior to that, she held senior Revenue Management roles at the Ritz Carlton Sanya and the JW Marriott Shenzhen.
Her extensive hotel experience includes positions in Hong Kong at the Mandarin Oriental, Grand Hyatt. She has also worked regionally at the Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City and the Garden Hotel in Guangzhou.
Angela is a graduate of the University of Guelph, Canada with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, specializing in Hotel and Food Administration.
In 2006-2007, Angela took a few months out to be a volunteer missionary for the Association Alliance Internationales in Manila. During this time, she served as a consultant on the operation of the School of Life (SOL), a residential programme for girls who have suffered abuse or neglect, or have been victims of child labour. The programme seeks to integrate the girls back into society as responsible and independent young women. Angela was responsible for the girls' Livelihood Programme and also participated in the educational activities for the girls at the Youth Recreation Centre.
In her free time, Angela enjoys travelling. As per Angela, "Travel is a wonderful way to learn about and respect the uniqueness of diverse cultures. My next travel destination will be Iraq."
Gregor Raible
Assistant Director of Food & Beverage
Prior to joining InterContinental Hong Kong earlier this year, Gregor Raible was F&B Assistant Director on the opening team at the Kempinski Hotel Qingdao, having previously worked at the Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva for four years. Gregor's F&B experience also includes postings as Chef de partie and Commis de cuisine respectively at the 3-Michelin star "Le Pont de Brent" n Brent, Switzerland and 2-Michelin star "Domaine de Chateauvieux" in Satigny-Geneva.
A Swiss national, Gregor is a graduate of the famed Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne. In his free time, he enjoys snowboarding, sailing and riding motorcycles.
Joyce Mang, Director of Guest Relations
Joyce rejoined InterContinental Hong Kong earlier this year as Director of Guest Relations. Previously she worked at the hotel as Assistant Director of Sales - Corporate from 2009 - 2011.
In 2012 while living in Europe, she had the opportunity to be the chief hotel liaison for the stay of Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiaboa at Hyatt Regency Warsaw.
Her hotel experience includes five years at Hyatt Regency and Grand Hyatt Hong Kong in Customer and Convention Services. During that time, she also served on the pre-opening support team for Hyatt Regency Shatin.
Joyce attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada and is a graduate of the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Marketing). Joyce loves travelling and enjoys cooking and participating in wine tasting classes in her free time
Benjamin Ng, Reception Manager
Prior to joining InterContinental Hong Kong, Benjamin was based in London as Reception Manager at InterContinental London Park Lane. During his four and a half years with IHG in the UK, Benjamin also worked at the Crowne Plaza London Kensington and Holiday Inn London Bloomsbury in various roles within Front Office operations.
Benjamin studied Hotel Management in Hong Kong from 2004 - 2007 at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and then pursued a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Hospitality Management at the University of Brighton in the UK from 2007 - 2008. During his hospitality studies, he trained at the Hyatt Regency Guam for one year in the Rooms Division.
After spending seven years abroad, Benjamin is happy to return to the home soil in Hong Kong. In his free time, he enjoys backpacking and travelling -- meeting people from different corners of the world and exploring different cultures.
Christy Wong, Director of Group, Meeting & Incentive Sales
Christy Wong joined InterContinental Hong Kong as Director of Groups, Meetings & Incentive Sales. Christy has ten years of experience in meeting and incentive sales with various hotel brands including W Hong Kong where she was Assistant Director of Sales - MICE. She has also worked at the Harbour Grand Kowloon and Sheraton Hong Kong.
Christy is a graduate of the University of Toronto, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Economics and a minor in East Asian Studies. In her free time, she enjoys travelling and trying all types of international cuisine.
June Tang, Manager of Quality and Continuous Improvement
June Tang was promoted to InterContinental Hong Kong's Manager of Quality and Continuous Improvement earlier this year, after working as Market Analyst for the hotel since early 2012. Prior to that she was Income Audit Assistant at The Ritz Carlton Hong Kong.
As graduate of New York University (NYU) with a BS in Hotel & Tourism Management from the Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management, June's first encounter with the hospitality industry was interning at InterContinental Hong Kong in both the Front Office and F&B departments.
After graduation, she joined Marriott's lifestyle brand, EDITION, where she took part in developing SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and training materials for various operational roles. She later joined the opening team of The Waikiki EDITION and then The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong. In her free time, she enjoys travelling and trying all types of international cuisine.
