Audley Travel have introduced many new and very special hotels to their portfolio. These include:
Orange County Hotel, Hampi – Hampi is one of Audley's favourite places in India and, since opening in April, the new Orange County Hotel has quickly become the most desirable accommodation option in the area. The building's exterior is inspired by the architecture of the Vijayanagara Empire, who made Hampi their capital. The interior is just as impressive; each spacious room has a private Jacuzzi or pool, plus there are two restaurants, a relaxing pool area and a great Ayurveda Spa.
Entamanu Ngorongoro, opened last month in Tanzania. Perched on the far side of the Ngorongoro Crater it has spectacular views down into the caldera in one direction and, uniquely, over the Serengeti in the other. Designed to be entirely without impact on the site, the camp can be packed up and taken away, leaving no trace, yet is as solid and warm as it needs to be sitting at over 2000m above sea level. From here exploration of the crater itself is straightforward, but there is also the chance to discover some lesser known areas such as Empakai, Olmoti and Ol Donyo Lengai.
Anantara Hotels, Oman – Anantara is one of Audley's favourite hotel groups and so they are delighted that the group is opening two new properties in Oman before the end of the year. One is in the Jebel Akhdar mountains and the other is in Salalah and will provide the first truly deluxe property in the area.
The Lodge at Parque, Patagonia, Chile
The Lodge at Parque complements its park surroundings thanks to its eco-features, which are central to the experience of staying here. The whole area is a philanthropic hub, created by Doug Tompkins (founder of North Face clothing), who aimed to design a sustainable, socially-inclusive national park in Chilean Patagonia.
Amanemu, Japan – Japan's second Aman property opened earlier this year. It is set in the forested hills of southern Mie Prefecture and designed to be a modern take on traditional Japanese minka country homes. complete with spacious villas, hot spring onsen baths, sea views, delicious seafood and expansive spa.
Jalakara, Andaman Islands – Since opening at the end of last year Jalakara has provided the first luxury private villa hotel in the Andaman Islands. It was originally an overgrown banana and betal nut plantation backing on to rainforest and has now been transformed in to a tropical hideaway. The Andamans are hard to get to but once there you are rewarded with pristine beaches and incredible diving.
