New Hotel Development in St Kitts Boosts Room Capacity

St. Kitts Tourism Authority

The recent announcement of a 226-suite Embassy Suites by Hilton Hotel in St. Kitts, alongside the ongoing new and renovated hotel developments on the island, the majority representing high-end luxury accommodation, will immediately increase the island's bed capacity in the next two years by over 600 new rooms, the St. Kitts Tourism Authority has announced.

By 2016, St. Kitts will have added 134 new rooms when Park Hyatt St. Kitts opens, 96 at Koi Resorts and the full count of 112 rooms following completion of the final guesthouses and farmhouses at Belle Mont Farm, Kittitian Hill. With close to 600 villas and apartments brought in to the mix, the total room count by end 2016 will be over 1,700 with the additional 226 Embassy Suites by Hilton, completed by the first quarter of 2017.

Together with key infrastructure projects including the recent opening of the island's first superyacht marina which followed the launch of the island's first private air terminal and YU Lounge, the destination is quickly steering towards a luxury tourism product.

New Minister of Tourism, the Hon Lindsay Grant, said, “St Kitts, as a new destination for the UK market, is at a great place right now with several projects on stream which will put us firmly in the high-end sector within the next two to five years.  The upscale Embassy Suites brand serves as an excellent complement to the diverse mix of our current hotel product and it is well-aligned with the direction of our strategic plan for the continued development of our tourism industry."

Key new hotel developments include:

Belle Mont Farm
Having opened in December 2014 the first innovative and exciting new hotel product since 2005, Boutique hotel Belle Mont Farm continues to add to its existing guest room count, with 112 rooms confirmed for completion.

Launched alongside Belle Mont Farm is Irie Fields, dubbed the 'world's most edible golf course' thanks to the course's positioning as it winds its way through several fruit orchards.
Belle Mont Farm is the first stage in a long, exciting sequence of development plans at Kittitian Hill. Set to open later in 2015 in a secluded spot high up on Mt Liamuiga, will be the brand new Mango Walk Spa; followed by the villa development, Yaya Groves, home to a collection of 3-4 bedroom private villas. Also joining the plethora of luxury experiences at Kittitian Hill is The Village: a social hub complete with shops, galleries and even an open air cinema.
