Charleston is set to be one of the must visit destinations of the spring, as it celebrates one of the biggest and most prestigious sailing events in North America, Charleston Race Week (11 – 14 April 2019) and British Airways launches new direct flights from London on 4th April.
Currently in its 24th year, the annual Charleston Race Week sees competitors from 24 states and 12 countries visit South Carolina's oldest city for the sailing regatta. No other sailing event in the US brings in such a high calibre of participants – America's Cup Winners, Olympic Medallists and World Champions. Full of historical charm, April is one of the best times to visit Charleston as blossom sweeps through the city.
The best place to stay and join in all the action of Race Week is The Beach Club at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina. Races with the smaller boats can be watched directly from The Beach Club and the four-day festival sees spectacular nightly events take place on the beach by the resort. Two of the biggest events – Thursday's Opening Night, with live music and shrimp tacos, and Friday night with BBQ and cocktails see 1,000 – 1,500 people celebrate on the sand at The Beach Club.
The Beach Club at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina is situated in Mount Pleasant, just across the bridge from historic downtown Charleston. From the waterfront location, it is east to access some of the best attractions in the area including the quaint cobbled streets of downtown, Patriots Point and USS Yorktown. Featuring Lowcountry design, typical of the area and wraparound porches overlooking the marina and Charleston skyline, the 92-roomed Beach Club delivers an authentic Charleston experience complemented by personalised service and high-end accommodation.
Nightly rates at The Beach Club at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina during Race Week start from $529 (approx. £413) per night. Tickets to Race Week evening events are available for purchase. To book visit www.charlestonharborresort.com/the-beach-club.htm
