Refurbishments to the outdoor bar area on deck nine of Spirit of Tasmania I and II will be officially unveiled to passengers tonight (17 December).

Chief Executive Peter Simmons said the changes included enclosing the outdoor area, the provision of improved floor coverings and the installation of more modern and comfortable chairs and tables.

Mr Simmons said the refurbishments were undertaken following feedback from customers.

�Importantly, the completion of the facilities is well timed as we are in the middle of operating additional daylight sailings to cater for increased passenger and vehicle demand on Bass Strait.�

Mr Simmons said the new area also featured a video amusement centre, which will be of particular interest to young people of all ages.

�Spirit of Tasmania is working hard to ensure its passengers are well catered for during the Bass Strait crossings,� he said.

�Providing a variety of entertainment options is important whether the crossing is made during daylight hours or overnight.�
