New Experiences In Australia's Oldest National Park

Sydney Coast Walks

Second only to Yellowstone, in 1879 Australia preserved 16,000 hectares of wildness as the Royal National Park. Today, Royal Coast Walks are the Royal specialists, providing expertly guided small group hiking, camping, birdwatching and kayaking adventures through Sydney’s largest park, less than one hour from the city centre.

Founder and senior guide Ian Wells transformed his passion for Royal into a successful tourism business and as part of the Shire Tourism delegation (ATE stand 213), is proud to showcase this exciting new Sydney destination.

In the two years since establishing the business, Royal Coast Walks has been granted a 10 year Premium Eco Pass Licence by NPWS, been recognised with Advanced Ecotourism Certification and won silver for Adventure Tourism at the 2010 Greater Sydney Tourism Awards.

With 5-star testimonials, Royal Coast Day Walks consistently rates in TripAdvisor’s top 10 of all Sydney tours and was recently tipped in “5 of the best Sydney Tours” by Australia’s recognised authority on the travel industry, Travel Weekly.

Ian Wells says it’s the combination of expert, enthusiastic guides plus the variety the Royal offers which attracts visitors.

“There are magnificent sandstone cliffs dotted with hermit caves, secluded beaches, bush, heathland, rainforest and ancient aboriginal carvings. Whale watching is also a feature of our coastal walks during migration season. There is just so much to see packed into an untouched section of Sydney coastline.”

This variety of habitat within the Park’s boundaries means the birdlife is varied and beautiful. Author of Birdwatching in Royal & Heathcote National Parks, Steve Anyon-Smith, will be leading Royal Coast Walks newly launched birdwatching tours and says,

“Where else in the world can you see the magnificent Wandering Albatross, with the greatest wingspan of any bird, then marvel at the speed of Peregrine Falcons, and be entertained by the world’s greatest mimic and largest songbird, the Superb Lyrebird?”.

Birdwatching complements Royal Coast Walks existing tour offerings of half, full day and two day guided hikes where the emphasis is on exploring the beauty of the park in comfort. All tours are fully catered and supported, meaning even campers carry only a light day pack as all gear is provided, carried and erected for guests.

Bring a sense of adventure to discover Sydney’s Royal National Park with Royal Coast Walks.
