Australia’s favourite travel magazine, get lost, has appointed a new editor in the lead up to the publication’s 10th birthday next year.
Travel tragic and editorial extraordinaire Catherine Best has taken over the reins from Pat Kinsella, who has returned to the UK.
Catherine comes with an enviable CV, having worked as a journalist and writer for almost 15 years, before joining get lost as deputy editor in 2012.
In a career that has taken her from the halls of parliament to the world’s highest peaks, Catherine has made a name for herself as a talented wordsmith and world-wandering wunderkind. Her stories have been published across Australia and internationally, including in The Age, Herald Sun, The Australian and Sydney Morning Herald.
Catherine is joined by writing guru Carrie Hutchinson who, in a career spanning 20 years, has been a writer and editor for a variety of the world’s most well-known mastheads, including the British edition of Vogue, lifestyle bible Wallpaper (where she is still a contributing editor), the New York Times and Australian publications including Vogue Entertaining + Travel and Sunday.
get lost publisher Justin Jamieson said he was delighted to welcome Carrie on board and see Catherine step up to the editor’s chair.
“get lost has evolved into a powerful force in the travel magazine market and we have an incredibly strong team as we look towards our 10th birthday next year,” Mr Jamieson said.
“Both women bring a wealth of experience and credentials to the magazine, as well as an obligatory adventurous spirit, which will see get lost continue to grow and kick goals into the future.
“We thank Pat for all his hard work. He is sorely missed but, in the spirit of travel writing, will continue to contribute to the magazine from the northern hemisphere.”
