POWDER BYRNE LAUNCHES NEW EARLY SEASON SKI ESCAPES WITH A DIFFERENCE

Powder Byrne is extending its festive holiday programme for December 2017

The snow arrived pretty late in most resorts in 2016/17, so some might question why Powder Byrne has chosen to extend its early season ski programme next season.

With less than perfect ski conditions in December 2016, it's fair to say that as ever, the perception remains that skiing at Christmas and New Year is risky if you want to be sure of getting good conditions for snow.   Powder Byrne has listened to its clients, however, and has learnt that for many of them travelling to the Alps in the Christmas holidays, it is much more about experiencing the whole festive atmosphere, than purely hurtling down the pistes on skis.

Powder Byrne, therefore,  has extended its full service programme to commence a week earlier from 16th December in one of its highest altitude resorts in the Austrian Arlberg.   The small village of Zurs offers clients the whole festive package.  They will discover a typical Arlberg Advent in Zurs together with neighbouring Lech and St Anton during this week, with the mountain celebrations in full swing, including Christmas markets, festivals, traditionally decorated villages – all this without even venturing onto the slopes!  Wander around the village streets, soaking up the atmosphere while enjoying a mug of hot chocolate or glass of gluhwein.

Skiing will still be an important part of the holiday for many, so by choosing a resort which on average has more snow, even down in the resort, than most other villages in The Alps in December, PB clients will have the best chance of some good skiing conditions, and will not be disappointed when they realise they are almost the first skiers to hit the slopes next season at a time when it is generally much quieter than the Christmas and New Year weeks themselves.  PB's full service with resort teams and kids ski programmes will all be up and running.

PB Mountain Hosts will co-ordinate a full programme of skiing and other activities  to ensure clients benefit from the very best that this area has to offer during the festive period; whatever the snow conditions,  clients will have a truly magical time in the mountains.  Choose from a raft of festive events such as:

  • Torchlit stargazing walks
  • Husky dog sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides
  • Ice skating parties
  • Guided snow hikes
  • Snow-shoeing
  • Visits to Christmas Markets
  • Advent concerts and bands playing in the town square

Despite mixed ski conditions over all, 2016/17 will go down as another excellent year for Powder Byrne with so many families having had amazing skiing holidays again, which more than compensates for the regret felt by its resort teams when they hang up their red jackets at the end of the season.  Roll on December!

Price from £2,227 per person staying at the family-owned Hotel Arlberghaus for 7 nights from 16th December on HB.  Price includes 7 nights for the price of 6 if booked before 1st August,  return  flights, luxury transfers and Powder Byrne's in-resort service including mountain hosts and adult ski guiding.  Book before 15th September and enjoy a Euro 200 credit on your extras bill against food and drink.
