Brand new for 2014, our three part lecture series Mediaeval to Modern: Six Eras of Classical Music launches in London in partnership with Classic Discovery. Musician and broadcaster Sandy Burnett will introduce a thousand years of classical music, from the Mediaeval and Renaissance periods through Baroque, Classical, Romantic and 20th century right up to the present day.

The illustrated and interactive lectures explore the nuts and bolts of classical music – notation, form, and tonality – and discuss how composers went about the process of shaping their works. In deepening understanding of the essential elements of music in each era, our course will provide a new perspective on classical music as a whole.

Course Director Sandy Burnett said “I’ve really enjoyed putting together these Classic Discovery projects over the last few years, and am excited about creating this new partnership with ACE Cultural Tours. Yes, this classical music course is a lecture series, but it’s going to be much more than an academic monologue –I’ll be illustrating themes on the piano, answering any questions that might come my way, and dipping into a range of great recordings.”
