Northern Escape CatSkiing has carved out one of the largest and most diverse catski zones in British Columbia. The 7,000 acres (2,833 ha) of varied terrain feature huge alpine bowls, steep old-growth forests and enough terrain to entertain every skier and boarder. With just 18 guests at Yellow Cedar Lodge the experience is intimate. From drinks and appetizers after a day of adventure, to a sumptuous dinner served family style, the Lodge is warm and inviting. A drink at the ice bar or a massage to soothe tired muscles is a great way to top off the evening.

Northern Escape CatSkiing general manager, John Forrest, says: “With the more accessible cost of catskiing over heli-skiing, this initiative will plumb a new market, reaching skiers and boarders keen to experience cat-skiing in one of BC's most rewarding backcountry areas. Staying true to our roots, we've added the heli-ski experience as a bonus. Groups don't need to decide in advance; our helicopters are ready to fly to some of the best heli-skiing terrain in the world.”  

Just as for heli-ski groups, guests select powder skis or a snowboard from Northern Escape Catskiing's own fleet, then pick up a state-of-the-art airbag, transceiver, shovel and probe, before taking part in a safety briefing.

Northern Escape's new catskiing program starts at $2299 CAD per person for a three-day package, with no limit on vertical feet. Groups of four to six can upgrade to a day of heli-skiing at a cost of $46 CAD/vertical 1000 feet.
