The BBC launch their three part series on 'Japan - Earth's Enchanted Islands' this week on BBC2, showing the astonishingly varied landscape and how animals and people adapt in extraordinary ways.  Audley expect to see an increase in enquiries for Japan as a result of the programme,  particularly to the three areas featured - Honshu, the Southwest Islands and Hokkaido. 

The programme on Honshu goes out tonight with the Southwest Islands next week and Hokkaido on 22 June.   

Audley can create tailor-made itineraries in all the areas featured in the series and suggest the following;

Honshu - a 16 day Alpine Explorer itinerary taking in dramatic and beautiful mountain scenery with time in Kyoto, Tokyo, Kanazawa, Kamikochi and Matsumoto. There are hiking, light walking and serious mountaineering opportunities as well as hot spring bathing and the snow monkeys at Yudanaka Onsen. The Southwest Islands - an Ultimate Kyushu itinerary which explores the volcanic mountains and dramatic calderas in Aso-Kuju National Park, the hot springs of Kurokawa and the picturesque Chiran Gardens. It also includes a boat ride down the Takachiho Gorge amid tumbling waterfalls and mountain cherry trees. This 17 day trip costs from £3,245 per person to include return flights, transfers and all accommodation and Audley suggest adding on a couple of nights on Yakushima Island which is also featured in the programme.
