Mountain and water trails, running, biking, paddling, hiking, snowsports, multi-sport events and craft beer are all essential elements of the Bellingham, WA adventure and outdoor recreation scene. Basecamp Bellingham is a new program developed by Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism to assist travelers in locating these activities throughout the Bellingham destination.

A key component is the new website basecampbellingham.org, which highlights major outdoor events such as the Ski to Sea Relay Race, Bellingham Traverse, Bellingham Marathon, Tour de Whatcom bike race, Lake Whatcom Classic paddling race, Legendary Mt. Baker Banked Slalom snowboarding race, and dozens more. The website also provides resources for local equipment such as bike rentals, and gear outfitters. Direct links are provided to explore more in depth information about each subject area. A photo contest on the website also encourages visitors to share images of their experiences in Bellingham.

In addition, a new Basecamp Bellingham tradeshow booth has been created, which will travel throughout the region to help potential visitors specifically interested in outdoor activities connect with Bellingham's offerings.

“Our purpose and goal as an organization is to assist visitors in finding the many activities our destination offers,” said Loni Rahm, President and CEO of Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism. “Outdoor recreation is a cornerstone of our destination. This program pulls together our diverse outdoor recreation events and businesses to showcase the Bellingham destination as a whole.”
