Adelaide Festival Theater Presents: Richard Wagner�s The Ring Cycle

Richard Wagner's The Ring Cycle attracts audiences and opera lovers from all around the world, as one of the greatest works created for the musical stage. Fans can now turn their attention to Adelaide, where three complete cycles of The Ring will be staged at the Adelaide Festival Theater in November and December 2004. This production will be the first truly Australian Ring and will feature the single largest set design ever conceived in Australia. With a cast of the highest caliber and featuring the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, the three complete cycles will take place on the following dates: Stage 1 on Nov. 16-22; Stage 2 on Nov. 26 � Dec. 2; and Stage 3 on Dec. 6- Dec. 12.

Mount Lofty Summit Upgrade

One of Adelaide's most popular tourist attractions, the Mount Lofty Summit, where visitors can enjoy extensive panoramic views of the city and metropolitan coastline, has undergone a $AUD300,000 upgrade. Officially opened in July, key features of the upgrade include the following: the installation of a telescope, with 20 times magnification, so visitors can get a closer daytime look at the sweeping views; a completely revamped exhibition, featuring touch screens that give information about the Summit and tourist attractions in the Adelaide Hills; a plasma screen carrying images of the Adelaide Hills and improvements to the Center's shop and other helpful information. http://www.mtlofty.sa.gov.au/

SKYCITY Redevelopment

The SKYCITY gaming and entertainment complex is being significantly redeveloped over the next three years, creating a vibrant, broad-based entertainment hub in Adelaide. Spending an initial $AUD20 million in the first stage of upgrading facilities, the project is restoring and revitalizing the original characteristics of the landmark heritage site-Adelaide city's former railway station building. There will also be the North Terrace Bar and Restaurant redevelopment, a new ground level entrance, and ground level Bistro Restaurant, which will become the flagship restaurant for SKYCITY. In addition a new Cocktail Bar will be an exciting new social venue on the mezzanine level and a pub style front bar will be situated on the ground floor, with new gaming areas also on the ground floor utilizing extra space. Construction of phase one is scheduled to be completed by December 2004. Stages 2 and 3 of redevelopment plan to include a new underground car park, a dedicated entertainment facility for premium concerts and special events, as well as redevelopment of the main gaming areas, and major exterior landscaping projects. http://www.skycityadelaide.com.au/
