Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Cagliari
Arrive at Cagliari Elmas Airport. Private transfers to hotel. Check in.
Overnight: Cagliari
Day 2: Cagliari, Su Nuraxi, & Wild Giara Park
Breakfast, then walk into Cagliari's old town (including St Eulalia Church and underground tunnels), and on to Poetto Beach. In the afternoon, you are taken to Barumini to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Su Nuraxi. Su Nuraxi archaeological ruins are the remains of a village settlement that was constructed more than 3000 years ago, and occupied for about 600 years. The village originally contained more than 50 huts and the main tower structure is nearly 19m high. Your journey continues to Wild Giara Park, a high plateau nature reserve containing rare species of flora and fauna and the only herd of wild small horses in Europe.
Overnight: Cagliari
Day 3: Cagliari & Sulcis
Breakfast, then walk along south-west coast using the route of an ancient Roman road (Kalaris-sulcos; you can still see traces of the road's original Roman foundations). This is a beautiful walk through Mediterranean vegetation and along cliff-top footpaths overlooking the sea. Continue to Montessu Necropolis, a natural amphitheatre containing more than 40 prehistoric tombs as well as impressive Neolithic rock carvings. Continue to the secluded prehistoric Tomb of the Giants of Barrancu Mannu (built about 3500 years ago).

Day 4: Sulcis
Today you explore the stunning, but not so well known, Sardinian island of Saint Antioco. After breakfast, you are taken on a morning tour of the so-called caves or hypogea (underground rooms) of a prehistoric village, to a children's necropolis, and on to the local archaeology museum. The rest of the day is spent trekking along cliff-top footpaths and through the most exciting and breathtaking scenery the island has to offer.
Overnight: Sulcis
Day 5: Sulcis & Sinis Peninsula
Breakfast, then to one of the many historic mines in Sardinia, Porto Flavia (Blue Mine), overlooking the incredible Pan di Zucchero. Transfer through mountain roads to the Valley of Antas to uncover beautiful scenery and fascinating cultural sites like the Temple of Sardus Pater. From here, walk along ancient road to Roman mines and to the Mannau Caves; considered to be the most beautiful caves on the island and the location for indigenous cult worship. Transfer to Sinis Peninsula.
Overnight: Cabras/Oristano
Day 6: Sinis Peninsula & Cagliari
Breakfast, then visit to Phoenician city of Tharros including an short trek along the Saint Marco promontory. Visit the Giants of Mont'e Prama archaeological exhibition, home to an amazing and strange collection of ancient stone sculptures created by the prehistoric Nuragic people. In the afternoon, you head to Santa Cristina Holy Well and then return to Cagliari.
Overnight: Cagliari
Day 7: Depart
Breakfast, then transfer to Cagliari Elmas Airport for onward flight.
