Luxury travel company Abercrombie & Kent has just released its 2015 Africa & Arabia brochure containing 48 itineraries and extensions.
The 2015 collection is an entire portfolio for the private independent traveller seeking luxury travel experiences throughout Africa and the Middle East. Every itinerary has been designed to deliver the destination in the best possible way.
A&K Managing Director Sujata Raman comments, “with sales to Africa continuing to perform solidly, we have expanded the number of journeys in our new brochure and added more online. In response to consumer demand, multi-country tours are a major focus. We recognise that Australian travellers tend to visit more than one country on an African safari and these itineraries are intended to showcase regions and how well they combine. One example is the 26-day, four country adventure through southern Africa which incorporates every possible highlight.”
Despite recent issues facing East Africa, Sujata has confirmed A&K's continuing commitment to the region including significant investment in a fleet of new upgraded safari vehicles. Being gradually rolled out, these 6-seater Land Cruisers have Wifi connectivity, ipads, GPS, air-conditioning, fridge and charging socket with universal plug. In addition the windows have been raised and the seats lowered for better viewing.
Says Sujata, “One of the trends we've noticed our guests following is the desire to engage with the environment and come home with new experiences. To this end a new adventure through the diverse landscapes of Namibia has been designed taking in the dramatic Skeleton Coast and the new Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp. Another trend which the A&K traveller follows is taking time out to slow down. The new selection of luxury Mauritius stopovers delivers this, with relaxed, leisurely resort stays which make the perfect extension to an African safari or a stand-alone beach holiday.”
Customisation and flexibility
To offer flexibility and achieve the best guest experiences, A&K is featuring two new camps, which have opened around the Great Migration in East Africa. Sanctuary Serengeti Migration Camp is a mobile camp that follows the migration and Sanctuary Masai Mara Seasonal Camp on the banks of the Mara River which opens from late June to late October annually. The two camps position safari-goers in the very best spots to experience the migration.
Added flexibility and customisation are key attributes of A&K's Great East Africa Migration itinerary. Guests are offered clear guidelines on the seasonal movement of the migration and a choice of the best safari camps for their month of travel.
Engaging with nature
A new adventure through Namibia goes to the heart of some of the country's most rugged and iconic parts includes the legendary Skeleton Coast. Highlights include extraordinary desert-adapted wildlife, vast dunes and the sand sea plus a flight over the stark shores and shipwrecks of the coast and a visit to the noisy Cape fur seal colony. Stylish tented camps including the new Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp are a feature of A&K's 8-day 'Sossusvlei & the Skeleton Coast' journey. Prices from $6,350 per person.
Also launching is the 26-day exploration of southern Africa. It visits four countries letting guests experience diverse and amazing wildlife sightings from Zambia's South Luangwa to Botswana's Chobe National Park and Okavango Delta, Namibia's desert reaches and prime game viewing in South Africa's Sabi Sand. A new camp on the Skeleton Coast is a highlight with waterfront luxe in Cape Town and tented retreats elsewhere. A&K's 26-day 'Southern Circle' itinerary is priced from $22,880 per person.
A new combination of Kenya and Uganda combines a range of different game viewing experiences. In the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy there is rhino in abundance and activities varying from walking safaris and riding to camel treks and night drives. The world famous Masai Mara has the iconic huge herds of game while the forest ecosystem of Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to the endangered mountain gorilla and there are two day's spent tracking these incredible creatures.
