New 2014 Holiday To Bavaria For 100th Anniversary Of First Adventure Abroad

HF Holidays

To mark the 100th anniversary of the company's first adventure abroad - to Germany in 1914 - HF Holidays is re-introducing this destination into its Walking & Outdoor Holidays 2014 programme with a new guided walking holiday to the Bavarian lake region.

Based in the spa town of Bad Wiessee on the shores of Lake Tegernsee - an area with a great network of well-maintained paths due to its walking heritage of a spa and health resort - this holiday offers a choice of two different walking options each day amid the foothills of the high European Alps taking in remarkable views.

Highlights include scenic walks around Spitzingsee - with its pretty wooden buildings - following good paths to the Ursprungtal, a valley of deep limestone gorges and waterfalls, and ascending the Wallberg cable car for panoramic views across Tegernsee's five towns and its surrounding area before enjoying a high level route into the neighbouring valley.

There's also a visit to Wildbad Kreuth - with its famous spring which was originally discovered in the 14th century - and walks through picturesque countryside to a nearby creamery to see Bavarian cheeses being made as well as rest stops at traditional Alpine Gasthofs.

Available on selected dates in May, June and September, the cost is £799 per person, land-only or £995 inclusive of return Heathrow flights and transfers.  These twin-share prices also include seven nights' half-board accommodation at the four-star lakeside Hotel Terrassenhof, the full programme of guided walks and the services of experienced HF Holidays' leaders.

Other new holidays for 2014 include guided walking in Puglia - the heel of Italy's boot - and the Eastern Algarve; combining the chic resorts of St Moritz and Zermatt on a Switzerland by Glacier Express option as well as new guided walking trails in the Lake District, Scotland, Wales and France.
