ORLANDO, FL—December 4, 2014 – Net Conversion, an Orlando-based digital marketing agency focusing exclusively on the tourism and hospitality industry, successfully partnered with Orlando Magic to attract more international travelers to games. With more worldwide visitors coming to Central Florida, the NBA team wanted to generate incremental ticket sales from these travelers. Instead of seeking a New York-based marketing firm to help drive bookings, the Magic sought help from hometown Net Conversion due to their familiarity with performance-based tactics from Google and keen understanding of the international travel market.
“We saw this as a huge, untapped opportunity, because Orlando is such a national and international destination,” says Anthony Perez, The Magic's vice president of business strategy.
Net Conversion helped the NBA team develop more refined and measureable digital campaigns that targeted international tourists, among other audiences, and helped raise site traffic to 35 percent from targeted audiences during the 2013-2014 seasons. The campaign was so successful that Google is now using their case study as a success story.
“There is no shortage of things to do in Orlando for families or couples or anyone else,” says Frank Vertolli, Net Conversion co-founder. “We wanted to target the right people and have them consider the Magic.”
Net Conversion positioned targeted digital videos using Google's TrueView platform to significantly increase website visitation in key markets, up 14 percent locally and 20 percent in all markets outside the region. In international destinations, traffic from Brazil jumped 21 percent and attendance from the country grew 35 percent. Other markets that saw an increase in traffic were 32 percent from Canada, and 35 percent from the UK over a year earlier. Using Google AdWords, the Magic also posted a return on ad spend (ROAS) of nearly 5.0—that is, for every dollar spent on AdWords, they made $5.00 in revenue.
Net Conversion is continuing their partnership with the NBA team this season by increasing digital marketing budgets, focusing more on mobile users, and using remarketing tactics to encourage international travelers to experience a professional sports experience.
