Travel Manitoba

Pose in well-designed studios, atop paddleboards, in luxury forest lodges or in winter along an urban lake.

With the hectic pace of daily life holidays have to be more rewarding on many levels including a greater sense of well-being and new experiences. Manitoba links nature and yoga to nurture the soul.

Yoga Public is a 20,000-square-foot yoga centre in downtown Winnipeg on Fort Street and is the first centre in Canada to offer TRX training. The centre's warm, earthy and elegant design is an unexpected delight, with state of the art and eco-friendly technology throughout. Yoga Public's huge hot yoga centre, the biggest in Canada, is  heated with infrared heat for a bone-warming experience that also detoxifies at a cellular level; hypo-allergenic, antimicrobial floors specifically designed for hot and humid environments; and environmental control systems designed to circulate fresh air and maximize oxygen levels.  The centre offers an array of yoga styles: restorative yoga, extreme relaxation yoga, yoga that targets back and shoulder pain.

FortWhyte Alive in Winnipeg is an urban oasis for visitors to enjoy the history of the prairies and surprisingly where you can enjoy the fine art of yoga summer and winter. In the winter, yogis combine nature and meditation with a hike through the aspen forests, followed by an indoor yoga session.  Summer programmes include the lake for some stand-up paddle board yoga. Balance is key!

The Prairie Love Festival celebrates the land of big skies and big hearts, and FortWhyte Alive, in Winnipeg is the perfect nature venue for this inspiring, rejuvenating event in the heart of the prairies, taking place each summer—this  year's dates are September 10 and 11. Yogis can enjoy a variety of classes with renowned instructors, as well as tranquil meditations, nature hikes, speakers and music.

Falcon Lake in the Whiteshell Provincial Park in eastern Manitoba, boasts the luxurious, eco-friendly Falcon Trails Resort. Nestled in the south side of the lake, the resort features lakeview cabins, each with a private deck and hot tub. Weekly yoga classes with South Moon Studio are available in the summer months, and there will be plenty of time to enjoy canoeing, hikes and convivial meals.

Manitoba is wild and breathtaking with 100,000 lakes and vast tracts of tundra, prairie, and boreal forest. Adventurous, yet luxurious, experiences such as walking with polar bears or swimming with beluga whales take place along 400 kilometres of ocean coastline along the Hudson Bay. Manitoba's capital city of Winnipeg is experiencing a renaissance with a world-class museum, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights; an arctic exhibit that showcases orphaned polar bears swimming overhead in a see-through tunnel; a hopping culinary scene, including winter pop-ups; and festivals year-round.
