Mustang Monument Launches Its 2015 Season On Memorial Weekend. Bring family and friends together to celebrate Memorial Day with the ultimate American safari adventure holiday.
Nevada USA, London UK March 23rd 2015: Perfectly timed to make the most of Memorial Weekend, Mustang Monument opens its doors for the 2015 season on Thursday 21st May, welcoming guests to experience fun, freedom and wilderness chic at this stunning 900 square mile eco-resort and wild mustang reserve in north-eastern Nevada.
Celebrating the start of its second season and building on the success of the first, Mustang Monument is the dream cowboy-luxe safari adventure come true. Safe haven and home to some 600 wild horses rescued from slaughter, it's possibly the best back-to-nature togetherness vacation ever; a unique combination of interacting with mustangs up front and personal, hand-painted luxury tipi bedrooms, campfire stories under the stars, poker and tall tales in the Wild West saloon plus Clay Nanini a rodeo champion cowboy running the adventurous side of life.
Mustang Monument's 4-night Memorial Weekend programme will appeal to all ages. Horses are the focus here; caring for them, riding them and learning about the mustang preservation programme of philanthropist owner, Madeleine Pickens. There are poignant early morning wagon rides to feed the herd, well-trained mounts for all abilities, trail rides through deserted gold mining towns, picnics up Spruce Mountain and thundering flat outs across the range for speed junkies.
Hiking and abseiling (repelling in local speak) are also part of the deal whilst the empty sage brush desert of the Goshute Valley is the backdrop for gung-ho adventures in all-terrain covered 4x4 Mavericks, ideal for exploring and tracking the herds of wild horses.
Back at the ranch, there are hilarious age-levelling sessions with rodeo champion Clay Nannini teaching cowboy skills such as calf roping, horseshoe throwing (harder than it looks) and archery whilst in the late evening, Native Americans from the Lumbee tribe share the secrets of their fascinating culture, perform traditional dance and music and explain the symbolism and significance of their magnificent ceremonial regalia and headdresses.
Dining at Mustang Monument is a feast of plenty, layering the best of Native American and Western flavours. Private dining tipis can be arranged for groups or families, whilst buckets of popcorn and marshmallows toasting on the fire is the perfect wind-down for those weary from the exhilaration of the day.
And come the end of the evening, as cowboy balladeers strum under the stars, weaving mesmerising tales about the Wild West and the role of those magical mustangs, a peaceful contentment descends that is a million miles from life in the fast lane. Wrapped in cosy native blankets around a flickering fire, there can surely be no better way to commemorate Memorial Weekend with loved ones; to remember those who have fallen in military service and to celebrate the start of the summer.
