Singapore, 29 March 2010: For one magical night only on 8 May 2010, Singaporeans will be treated to a free performance by world-renowned Italian tenor, Andrea Bocelli at the YTL Concert of Celebration 2010. This spectacular outdoor concert for the Singapore community at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, is part of a series of YTL Concerts of Celebration which have included a concert by the Three Tenors, Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and the late Luciano Pavarotti in Bath in 2003.

The exclusive concert will feature Andrea Bocelli, with special guests Slovenian soprano Sabina Cvilak, world-renowned flutist Andrea Griminelli and popular Australian singer Delta Goodrem, accompanied by the Singapore Philharmonic Orchestra and Philharmonic Chamber Choir. Complimentary tickets to this world class concert will be made available through a public ballot.

Passion is a key ingredient of success. Personally, be it in business or the arts, it is one of the cornerstones that keeps me driven and energised everyday. YTLs success in recent years has been built on its thriving operations in Singapore and we now want to give back to Singaporeans for their show of support for YTL. There is no better way to thank God and the local community but through a performance by Andrea Bocelli, one of the worlds greatest opera singers, in the heritage garden of the people, said Tan Sri Dato Dr. Francis Yeoh, Managing Director of YTL Corporation.

Andrea Bocelli said, Opera has the ability to unite audiences of all ages and cultures, because of the beauty of the music and passion behind it. As with our love for opera, Tan Sri Francis Yeoh and I share a passionate desire to let the world be moved by the beauty of opera and Im thrilled by the prospect of captivating a new audience.

Andrea Bocelli has recorded six complete operas and sold over 65 million copies of classical and pop albums worldwide. He is the winner of multiple international awards including the World Music Award and Classical Brit Award. Andrea Bocelli has previously performed alongside renowned singers like Sarah Brightman, Celine Dion and Mary J. Blige, to a vast audience including the British royal family, the Italian President Silvio Berlusconi, the Princess of Hanover, and former US Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush.

YTL has been a strong supporter of the arts, In 2005, YTL built and launched the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre with partners Yayasan Budi Penyayang and The Actors Studio, and has organised multiple public concerts and art exhibitions for the community. In 2003, a free outdoor concert was organized after YTLs acquisition of Wessex Water in the United Kingdom. This outdoor concert featured the world\'s favourite three tenors - Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and the late Luciano Pavarotti, who performed against the backdrop of World Heritage City, Bath, to a live audience of over 40,000 local people and later broadcasted by BBC. Another free outdoor concert was subsequently staged in Malaysia in 2005 to commemorate YTLs 50th anniversary in Sentul Park, Kuala Lumpur where internationally-acclaimed Russell Watson performed, accompanied by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.

Singapore has been chosen as the venue of this years YTL Concert of Celebration as a number of YTLs successful business operations are based here. They include PowerSeraya, Starhill Global Reit, real estate developments Sandy Island and Kasara The Lake at Sentosa Cove and Westwood Apartments on Orchard Boulevard.

Andrea Bocelli is an inspiring role model because his passion for opera has helped him overcome all odds to achieve what others thought was impossible. When YTL staged concerts by Russell Watson in Kuala Lumpur and the late Pavarotti in Pangkor Laut, the emotions that came through during the performances touched many people, some of whom have never been to an opera before. I am blessed to be able to reach out and provide Singaporeans this first-of-its-kind opportunity to experience an emotional journey at Andrea Bocellis concert, added Tan Sri Dato Dr. Francis Yeoh.

Members of the public are invited to ballot for free tickets by registering at http://www.ytlconcert2010.com.sg from 29 March 2010. Successful applicants will be notified by email.
