Much Better Adventures

To celebrate World Wildlife Day, Much Better Adventures has launched a new collection of Rewilding Adventures designed to give budding Attenboroughs the opportunity to encounter rare wildlife in remote corners of Europe whilst supporting critical rewilding projects.

The new adventure holidays include wolf tracking in the Italian interior, learning about Marsican brown bears in the Central Apennines, tracking moose in the Swedish forests and visiting bison in Romania. Every trip is led by expert rewilding guides and specialist wildlife trackers and directly supports the rewilding of keystone species and critical conservation efforts in Europe.

The collection of 'active safaris' involve hiking, snowshoeing, foraging, torchlight tracking, and wild swimming in lakes and rivers. Accommodation includes a mix of wild-camping, secluded cabins, mountain refuges, safari-style camps and family-run guesthouses.

On the launch of the collection, Much Better Adventures' co-founder Sam Bruce said “This new collection showcases the power of adventure travel and ties in perfectly with our mission to protect wild places. We're delighted to support The European Safari Company and Rewilding Europe's vital conservation and rewilding efforts with regenerative tourism.”

Aukje Van Gerven, Operations Manager of the European Safari Company added “When we restore natural processes to an area, a lot can happen. Wild nature will return, which also provides opportunities for income. Rewilding Europe looks at this enterprise part too - and we see young people returning to these areas, starting up businesses for accommodation, guiding, building infrastructure. By supporting wildlife and restoring natural processes, rewilding is transforming abandoned areas into thriving nature-based economies.”

The new trips, ranging from two to four nights, start from £480pp which includes guiding, transfers, accommodation, equipment, most meals and a Rewilding Levy of 5% which goes directly to the rewilding project connected to each trip. On top of this, Much Better Adventures channels an additional 5% of revenues from every booking towards reforestation and rewilding projects in Europe.

The trips are set to run from 24 June 2021, pending government travel advice.

Company Bio:

Much Better Adventures was founded with the goal of building a global travel company that could play a significant role in the fight to protect the world's wild places. Seeking to build the market-leading brand in adventure travel, the company offers 130+ adventure holidays in 47 countries with 5% of revenues supporting conservation projects and the families of local guides who have been badly affected by the pandemic.

Last year, the travel company also invited the tourism industry to declare a climate emergency and publish measurable carbon action plans. The Tourism Declares movement they co-founded set out to encourage the industry to work more closely together to help build a new, regenerative tourism industry.

The company, which recently published the carbon footprints of all their trips and called on the industry to do the same, have also committed to suck at least two times more carbon out the atmosphere than has been emitted by their trips since 2016 through selected reforestation and rewilding projects.

Covid policy:
Much Better Adventures are offering free date changes, 110% credit, or full refunds to customers with trips affected by COVID-19. They also currently have a 'zero deposits' promotion running.

Rewilding Europe is a non-profit organisation based in The Netherlands, working to create rewilded landscapes in at least 10 different regions across Europe. A key part of their movement involves creating sustainable ecotourism opportunities.
