Mountain Kingdoms Return to the Langtang Region of Nepal

Mountain Kingdoms

In the devastating earthquake of 2015, the Langtang region of Nepal suffered some of the most significant damage and loss of life. Many homes and livelihoods were temporarily destroyed and the area was closed for trekking for some time. Since then, the incredibly resilient local people have repaired the trails and re-built the tea houses, and we now feel it is the right time to return to trek in the beautiful valleys of the area. By doing so, we will help provide the people of Langtang with much needed income as they continue to re-build their lives and communities in a sustainable way.

Langtang & the Laurebina La Trek, Nepal

For somewhere so little known, the Langtang Himal is surprisingly close to Kathmandu – only about 30km as the crow files and just a few hours' drive away. This easy accessibility coupled with the traditional tea houses along the trail make it a very attractive trekking proposition, especially for those looking for a quieter alternative to the ever popular regions of Everest and the Annapurnas.

On this trek you pass through three different regions that each possess their own distinctive character; the snow-capped peaks of the high Langtang Valley, the rugged beauty of sacred Gosainkund Lake and its satellites and the rich cultural heritage of the Helambu Valley. In fact it is more like three treks rolled into one!

As Langtang emerges from the destruction of the earthquake there is no better time to support the communities here and to rediscover its beautiful high passes, pristine valleys and wonderfully welcoming people.
