Nearly 19,000 brides and grooms say “I do” in Australia each year, but numbers are declining for the first time in 10 years, and whilst spring (November) and autumn (March) are the most popular times for weddings, it is no surprise that Saturdays dominate (56%) as the preferred day.

Sunday weddings rate second, 15%, with winter weddings least popular in June and July. * 

Today, the average age is older - brides over 28, grooms around 30 but co-habitation before nuptials is still rising with 4 out of 5 couples “trying before buying.”
