With the Pound the strongest it's been against the Euro since 2008, why not hop across the Channel and enjoy more for your money in Normandy?
Not only is Normandy home to many fascinating historical sites from William the Conqueror to World War II, beautiful unspoilt countryside, miles of pristine coastline and outstanding culinary tradition, Normandy offers many family-friendly activities, days-out and accommodation.
With the Easter holidays now in full swing, here are five family friendly accommodation ideas in Normandy which offer three nights' accommodation for under £300.
Fisherman's cottage in the heart of the D-Day Beaches
A stone's throw from the shore, this former fisherman's cottage is found in the charming port town of Port-en-Bessin. The cottage is stylish, comfortable and modern with two bedrooms that will sleep up to a family of four. Port-en-Bessin is an ideal location for those wanting to take in some of Normandy's medieval and more recent history. The town is just 9km from the medieval town of Bayeux with its world famous tapestry and in the middle of the five D-Day beaches and under an hour's drive from the ferry port at Caen. Prices start at €250 (£183)* per week.

Back to nature in a wooden tipi
Set in the heart of 13 hectares of park and woodland, a wooden eco-tipi offers a quirky accommodation option in a rural setting. Wake up to the sound of the rooster, feed the baby goats, explore the surrounding woodland; this accommodation offers a true break from the everyday. Situated in the Seine Valley a short drive from Richard the Lionheart's castle at Les Andelys, each of the two tipis sleeps up to a family of 4 and is fully equipped with electricity, water, bathroom and kitchen. Les Andelys is under a two-hour drive from the ferry ports of Le Havre and Caen. Prices start at €120 (£88) per night for a family of 3 and €150 (£110)* for a family of four.
Charming cottages in the Suisse-Normande
In the heart of the Suisse Normande, La Bergèrie offers three self-catering cottages that could easily be mistaken for a Hobbit village. Owners Sylvie and Frédéric have lovingly restored the half-timbered 18th century farm buildings using traditional and eco methods. Set in an idyllic garden each cottage accommodates a family of four with the exception of the “Rugosa Cottage” that sleeps up to six. Sylvie and Frédéric offer bread making workshops in the restored 18th century traditional bread oven and guided tours of the nearby D-Day sites in their British purple taxi-cab. Located just over an hour's drive from the ferry port at Caen, with its lush landscape and pretty villages the Suisse Normande is fantastic for scenic walks, horse-riding, cycling and canoeing along the River Orne. Prices start at €264 (£194)* per cottage for a 3-night stay for a family of four.
