The 108th edition of the famous Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters tennis tournament kicked off last Saturday once again in the magnificent setting of the Principality of Monaco.
The Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters started on 12 April at the splendid Monte-Carlo Country Club and will reveal its 2014 winner this Sunday 20April. The tournament is one of the favorite events of the fans and the players but also attracts visitors due to its outstanding location. The Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters is the first of three ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments played on clay and opens the European season.
The 2013 Masters became memorable in the tournaments' history as Rafael Nadal, who holds eight successive victories between 2005 and 2012, was beaten by the Monaco resident Novak Djokovic, becoming the number one world player. After champion Djokovic opened his bid on Tuesday, Nadal started the tournament yesterday with a record attendance of 14,600 fans enjoying the action. While the Spanish player seems ready for revenge, he also faces competition with Stanislas Wawrinka and the star Roger Federer who decided to come back to the Principality this year. Who of the top 4 players will succeed this year? The suspense remains.
Do not miss the finals over the Easter Break! Stay tuned and watch live on ESPN with the quarter finals starting 18 April at 6:30pm Australian Eastern Standard time (AEST), followed on Saturday 19 April by the semifinals at 9:30pm (AEST) and at last, the Singles Final on Sunday 20 April at 11pm (AEST).
This year, Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters will support the Princess Charlene Foundation which will benefit from the promotional support of the ATP program "ACES for Charity". The foundation aims to implement educational and sport projects in order to support underprivileged children.
Among the numerous events associated with the tournament, 'La Grande Nuit du Tennis' - the traditional gala evening of the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters - will be held Friday 18 April at the Salle des Etoiles (“Room of the Stars”) next to the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel, the official Rolex Masters hotel. During this exceptional week, preferential prices are also offered to the clients of the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters in different hotels in Monaco such as the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel and the Méridien Beach Plaza.
