Where do you want to go and how will you get there? Now the solution is so much simpler!
Enjoy England are at the cutting edge in the implementation of mobile telephone technology. This week an innovative new mobile telephone text service was launched to help people on the move find the nearest Tourist Information Centre (TIC). With over 500 TICs around England, people are never very far from a source of personal advice to help them to make the most of their leisure time.
Whether at home or out and about enjoying England, mobile telephone users can find the nearest TIC by simply sending a text message to 64118 with the words TIC LOCATE. The technology identifies the location of the consumer from their mobile telephone and then identifies the location of the nearest TIC. The address and telephone number of the nearest TIC is then returned to the consumers mobile telephone within seconds.
Tourist Information Centres are great for information on events and attractions as well as maps and guides, and for booking a place to stay be it a camp site, cosy B&B or 5 star accommodation.
Andrew Duff, VisitBritains Head of Customer Contact Services commented With so many people using Tourist Information Centres as part of their travel experience, this is an ideal use of new technology to help visitors to locate information services whether still at home and planning a trip, or indeed when they are out and about enjoying England. Better informed visitors will get more enjoyment out of their trip, make more use of tourist services and thereby benefit the local tourist industry.
