Mindfulness Meditation retreat holidays combined with relaxation in nature, delicious food and local culture.
Mindfulness Journeys will be hosting a New Year Retreat (27 December 2014 – 1 January 2015) in the magical desert of Marrakech, only 45 minutes drive from the ancient city. Think stark desert by day and endless starry skies by night lit by huge bonfires with lanterns aligning stone pathways, luxury suites lit by candles and warmed by crackling wood stoves with snow capped Atlas Mountains in the distance. Chic Berber style dining tables are adorned with fresh roses, while mouth watering French / Moroccan cuisine is served with a warm Berber smile. The mornings involve Tibetan style yoga, meditation and talks from the renowned teacher Brian Hiliard, a close student for over 35 years of some of the greatest Tibetan Buddhist masters. After a delicious and healthy lunch Berber style, participants can enjoy the natural elements of the desert and nearby canyon– by camel, horseback or quadbike, or just relax by the pool or on the terrace of their private villas with a book. Before another sumptuous dinner there will be more mindfulness practice. For an escape from the busy pace of life and a great way to set intentions for the New Year - sun, desert, sky and space - offer serenity and tranquility to truly rejuvenate mind, body and soul.
“What excites us most about our Marrakech Desert New Year Retreat is the blend of relaxation in nature with warm winter sun, delicious French Moroccan cuisine and the exquisite teachings of Mindfulness/Awareness Meditation – setting your intention for the New Year with newfound tools to take back to everyday life”, say Brian and Shannon.
Brian Hilliard brings over 35 years of experience to the meditation cushion and has studied ancient wisdom traditions under the guidance of various Tibetan Buddhist masters. His approach is down to earth, caring and witty. Brian's skills are excellently complemented by his partner Shannon van Staden's deep knowledge of the high-end hospitality industry and years working as a stylist. She has been meditating for over six years and raises funds for a non-profit meditation organisation.
Brian and Shannon are a lively yet laidback couple who make you feel instantly at ease. Their combined talents help their retreats appeal to a wide cross section of people interested in the practice of mindfulness whilst not compromising on style, culture and great food and wine.
