Each year in June the Malvern Civic Society organises a programme of community events to highlight the key elements that make up modern Malvern.
It focusses on the history and heritage of this unique town as well its younger residents with an annual Schools' Literary Competition. It has a strong musical element and over the past ten years has established itself as an important part of what Malvern has to offer.
Midsummer Malvern in 2020 – its tenth anniversary - will include events highlighting the history and architecture of Malvern, music, from not only the Fontana choir from Mariánské Lázně in the Czech Republic, Malvern's twinned town, but also from young musicians from the area and complementary readings; also included are the natural history of the hills; and the past, present and future of Malvern in innovation and cyber technology.
Mediaeval Malvern
The Great Church of Malvern Priory has been the centrepiece of the town since the Norman Conquest; with its outstanding mediaeval windows; it has many visitors.
Victorian Malvern
Malvern Spa with its Water Cure and Hills has been a noted health spa since the early 19C and was the reason why Malvern was built with its many facilities including its unique gas lamps and world class theatre.
World War II and Malvern Museum
One of the key contributors to victory in 1945 was the development of radar for air and sea use; all the significant development was carried out in Malvern and formed the basis for future development.
Modern Malvern
With one of the largest Science Parks in the country and designated as a centre of excellent for cyber security, Malvern is not just a heritage theme park.
Music and Malvern
As the home of Sir Edward Elgar and its five large schools and thriving Theatre, Malvern is a centre of excellence for music and drama. It has been visited by many famous people over the years who are remembered with Society Blue Plaques.
Malvern Health and Spa Resort
Although the offering of the Water Cure has declined over the years, Malvern still attracts large numbers of visitors who walk the Hills and enjoy the considerable choice of health practitioners in the town.
