Following the introduction of Estonia to the prestigious MICHELIN Guide last year, the country's gastronomic landscape has reached new heights with a total of 34 restaurants earning a place in this years' guide, including 24 in the Capital Tallinn.
This includes Tallinn's stylish 180° by Matthias Diether which became the first restaurant in the Baltics to be awarded two Stars and retro-style restaurant Tuljak awarded a Bib Gourmand. Whilst Soo in the nature reserve of Maidla received a Green Star.
Estonia, located in the Gulf of Finland in the heart of the Baltics is known for its captivating landscapes, rich culture, Nordic vibe and innovative spirit, now shines brightly on the international gourmet map. These leading culinary establishments showcase Estonia's burgeoning reputation as a global culinary destination, attracting food connoisseurs from around the world.
The MICHELIN Guide, recognized as the epitome of culinary excellence, has bestowed its coveted Stars upon a remarkable collection of restaurants across the country. These stars symbolize exceptional craftsmanship, creativity, and a commitment to providing unforgettable dining experiences. Assessed on the quality of ingredients, harmony of flavours, mastery of techniques, personality of the chef expressed through their cuisine and consistency through the menu.
Leading the way is Estonia's first-ever two-star restaurant, an extraordinary achievement that solidifies the country's position as a gastronomic powerhouse. The ground-breaking 180° by Matthias Diether has taken the culinary scene by storm. The MICHELIN Inspectors were particularly impressed by the intricacy of the cooking, how the various elements all work supremely well together. There is great technique, skill, sophistication and understanding of flavour evident in every one of the highly visual dishes.
Whilst the exceptional NOA Chef's Hall in Tallinn, run by chef-owner Tõnis Siigur and which offers a striking view over the bay, retains its One Michelin Star status. The MICHELIN Inspectors greatly enjoyed cooking that was accomplished and confident, resulting in dishes that are expertly balanced and very satisfying. Praised as special dining experience in every way.
Alongside the awe-inspiring MICHELIN star restaurants, Estonia boasts six Bib Gourmands highlighting restaurants offering good quality food at a great price.
The MICHELIN Guide Estonia selection celebrates a wide variety of culinary styles spread throughout the country. These remarkable Michelin-starred restaurants represent the epitome of culinary artistry, from the delicate balance of flavours to the meticulous attention to detail, each establishment showcases the extraordinary skills of its culinary team.
