Meriski Adds New Luxury Lodgings For 2014-15

Meriski

Exclusive apartment and stylish chalet join winter collection

Meriski, the luxury catered chalet operator, is launching swish new lodgings this winter, including its first serviced apartment, and welcoming back a familiar face to the company's helm.

Stylish pad in Aspen Lodge

Meriski is offering guests the chance to stay in a new duplex at Méribel's much-anticipated Aspen Lodge (above left), a highly desirable ski-in ski-out complex mixing Savoyard architecture with thoroughly modern interiors.

Bookings are now open for one of the Lodge's slick, four-bedroom, serviced apartments, which are beautifully furnished and have huge windows and terraces for ringside views of the glorious Alpine landscape. More treats include an in-house spa and gym, housekeeping and concierge services, and guests can hire Meriski's chefs and babysitters and book places in its crèche.

A week at 32/42 Aspen Lodge costs from £4,950, based on eight sharing, including maid and concierge services, access to the gym and spa, private ski lockers and secure underground parking.

New chalet

A new property has been added to Meriski's superior collection of catered chalets. Chalet Phoebe (above centre and right), in the Mussillon area of Méribel, is a splendid three-storey property with six en-suite bedrooms, all with private balconies. The open-plan living space at its heart offers panoramic mountain views, which can also be enjoyed from the south-facing terrace, where guests can relax in an outdoor hot tub. There's theatre inside the chalet, too – the dining room opens onto the kitchen, so guests can watch their dedicated chef prepare 2 AA Rosette-standard meals, in the style of a chef's table at a top restaurant.

Chalet Phoebe is an excellent choice for adult groups or families, available for whole-chalet and split bookings. It costs from £7,950 per week, based on 12 sharing, or £662 per person, based on two sharing, including breakfast, afternoon tea, sparkling wine and canapés, four-course dinner on six evenings and all wine, beer and soft drinks, the services of chalet staff and an in-resort chauffeur from 8am to 10pm.

Colin Mathews returns

Founding director Colin Mathews is back at the helm this season, following a 10-year break. Speaking about rejoining the team, Colin said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be back home at Meriski in Méribel. Meriski has always held a special place in my life, as has Méribel (where I lived with my family from 2004 to 2009). I am sure that our new team, combined with Ruth and Huw's knowledge and experience gained over the past 10 years, will ensure that together we can really develop the company's role as 'the

Méribel specialists'. There will be some exciting new services added, both on and off the piste, to enhance Meriski's core product, which is luxury, catered chalets. We are all looking forward to working with our existing customers and chalet owners and building on the fantastic reputation that Meriski already enjoys.”

Notes to editors:

Meriski has been providing accommodation in Méribel for 30 years. Following a 10-year break, founder Colin Mathews has rejoined the company to work alongside fellow directors Ruth Gallop, former marketing director for Luxury Family Hotels and a current director of Congham Hall Hotel in Norfolk, and Huw Davies, former operations manager for Abercrombie & Kent.

The company has a reputation for fine service and excellent food, with chalets chosen for their superb aspect and luxurious interiors and staffed by friendly and efficient hosts. Chefs are handpicked for their flair and passion for food, and all have worked in establishments producing dishes to a minimum 2 AA Rosette standard.

Meriski is the only chalet operator in the resort with a dedicated crèche, run by qualified nannies who are also available for private bookings. It also offers a holiday club, MeriKids, for six- to 12-year-olds, in the school holidays. Plus, there's a daily ski school collection service. In the chalets, toboggans, CD players and iPod docking stations, TVs and DVD players, books, music and DVD libraries, Nintendo Wiis, toys and game boxes are all laid on. Internet access is free, too. A supervised high tea is served for children at 6pm each day, allowing adults some grown-up time.

Meriski holidays are priced for accommodation only, but the team can offer advice on travel to the resort. The nearest airports are at Chambéry, Grenoble, Geneva and Lyon-Saint Exupéry and train services run from St Pancras International to Moûtiers.
