Memphis Tourism brings sounds of the city down under
Memphis Tourism has announced the imminent arrival of two of Memphis' most popular blues artists to Australian shores ahead of the 2023 Blues on Broadbeach festival.
Travelling thanks to Memphis Tourism and in partnership with United Airlines, artists Marcus Scott and the multi-instrumental band The Bo-Keys will arrive in Australia in May ahead of the Queensland music festival that's known for bringing the blues, soul, and rock n roll that Memphis is famous for to Australia.
With Australia now ranking as the third largest international source market for Memphis, the city of blues, soul, and rock n roll is definitely on the radar for Aussies, and the local festival gives a taste of what Memphis is best known for - incredible music.
Famed Memphis native Marcus Scott is known as the “Memphis Soul Man” for his electrifying, compelling, and soulful vocals and performances. Marcus will be backed by the impressive ensemble that is the multi-instrumental The Bo-Keys, credited with keeping the spirit of classic Memphis music alive whilst also writing a new chapter for the sound and style that keeps it relevant and contemporary. Together, these musical acts promise to bring the sounds of Memphis in spades at Blues on Broadbeach and at two exclusive Memphis Tourism events in Melbourne and Sydney.
Chris Ingram, Director of Memphis Tourism Australia & New Zealand said, “Along with our valued partner United Airlines, Memphis Tourism is incredibly excited to bring these outstanding musicians to the country to perform at this year's Blues of Broadbeach. We're very lucky to have such a high number of talented musicians hailing from Memphis and excited to be able to bring them here so even more Australians can get a taste of true Memphis.”
Blues on Broadbeach's Festival Director Mark Duckworth shares the tourism board's excitement. “We look forward to welcoming Memphis' own Marcus Scott and The Bo-Keys to Blues on Broadbeach in May,” said Duckworth. “This will be an exceptional collaboration that fans of blues will not want to miss. Blues on Broadbeach has built a strong relationship with the team at Memphis Tourism for many years, curating some amazing festival performances from some of Memphis' best and we're hoping to bring many more legends from the home of blues music to the Gold Coast.”
The Blues on Broadbeach festival takes place between the 18th – 21st May
