New York, NY - May 3, 2018 – The newest members of The Broadway Collection have together received an outstanding 69 nominations in advance of the 72nd annual Antoinette (Tony) Perry Awards ceremony, to be held at Radio City Music Hall on June 10, 2018. Presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, the Tony Awards recognize theatre professionals for their impressive achievements on stage. With such a high number of nominations for The Broadway Collection shows, potential wins include: Best Musical, Best Leading Actor, Best Leading Actress, Best Direction, Best Revival, and Best Original Score, among others. Travelers planning a trip to New York City can watch the awards, airing on more than half a dozen networks across four continents (check local listings), to get a glimpse of Broadway's leading new offerings this year. A great choice for millennial travelers, Mean Girls has been nominated for a total of 12 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The talented cast has also been recognized, garnering nominations for Best Performance of an Actress in a Leading Role and Best Performance by both an Actress and Actor is a Featured Role in a Musical. On the creative side, the musical has been nominated for Best Book, Best Original Score, Best Scenic Design, Best Costume Design, Best Sound Design, Best Direction, Best Choreography, and Best Orchestrations.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical became a hit when it opened at the Palace Theatre in December 2017. Nominated for 12 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, the family-friendly show is just the ticket for audiences of all ages. Members of the cast have been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role and Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role, while the creative team has been recognized for Best Book, Best Original Score, Best Scenic Design, Best Costume Design, Best Lighting Design, Best Sound Design, Best Direction, Best Choreography, and Best Orchestrations.

Another front-runner for the 2018 Tony Awards is The Band's Visit. With 11 nominations, including Best Musical, Best Performance by both and Actor and Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical, Best Direction and Best Original Score, among others, the mesmerizing musical has been attracting multicultural audiences from across the globe since it opened in November 2017 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.

Contending for the highly coveted Best Revival of a Musical award is Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel, which has also received 11 total nominations. The cast has received nominations in every possible performance category: Best Performance by both an Actress and Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical and Best Performance by both an Actress and Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical. The creative team has also been nominated for a host of awards, recognizing those who are behind the powerful musical that has captivated international audiences for generations.

Rounding out the nominees for best Revival of a Musical are My Fair Lady and Once on This Island, which have received 10 and eight nominations, respectively. Having returned to the Broadway stage for the first time in 25 years, the timeless production of My Fair Lady has received nominations for the cast in every possible performance category as well as various nods to the creative team. Once on This Island is also up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role and Best Direction, among others. A relatable, universal tale of love, the musical has brought international audiences together since opening in December 2017.

Rounding out the Broadway Collection nominees are Frozen and Summer: The Donna Summer Musical. Having taken the world by storm upon opening, Frozen has received nominations for Best Musical, Best Original Score and Best Book, while Summer: The Donna Summer Musical has received nominations for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role and Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role, thanks to strong performances by LaChanze and Ariana DeBose.
