MACAU: Melco Crown Entertainment Limited (SEHK: 6883; NASDAQ: MPEL) (“Melco Crown Entertainment” or the “Company”) is a developer and owner of casino gaming and entertainment resort facilities.  In pursuance of extraordinary gastronomic experience, Melco Crown Entertainment's Culinary Team (“MCE Culinary Team”) garnered the gold medal in the Gourmet Team Challenge of the prestigious FHA Culinary Challenge 2014 and was awarded with one silver and one bronze medal in the Individual Pastry Showpieces Competition where budding international culinary talents seek accreditation.  The MCE Culinary Team has been two times gold medal winner for the Gourmet Team Challenge at HOFEX Hong Kong in 2011 and 2013; the only Macau integrated resort to receive this distinguished honor, reflecting the team's culinary talent and achievement in Macau's hospitality industry.

 

Food & Hotel Asia (FHA) is a premier trade show synonymous with the food and hospitality industry in Asia and beyond. The prestigious Gourmet Team Challenge and Individual Pastry Showpieces Competition is one of the important challenges at the FHA Culinary Challenge 2014. The premier culinary competition endorsed by the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) in Asia.  Dedicated to promote one's culinary excellence, it is the ultimate arena for hundreds of budding culinary talents from around the world to display their masterly skills.

 

This year, the MCE Culinary Team contended against entrants from across the globe over four days of intense competitions. Beating strong teams from Singapore, The United Arab Emirates (UAE), Thailand, Brunei and Australia, the MCE Culinary Team represented Macau and secured the gold medal. During the challenge, the chefs needed to prepare a themed buffet of their choice for 30 diners with their combined effort.  The winning team is awarded based on criteria that include materials used, hygiene, presentation, innovation, taste and texture.

Besides winning the gold medal at FHA, the MCE Culinary Team has garnered multiple international food and beverage industry honors and forms of recognition.  In just four months of 2014, Altira Macau's Italian restaurant Aurora and City of Dreams' Crown Towers restaurants, Jade Dragon and The Tasting Room have already been awarded the coveted Forbes Five-Star achievement in the restaurant category; represent three of the five restaurants to receive Five Stars in Macau.  (There are only 48 Five Star restaurants worldwide.) To top off these honors, Jade Dragon also earned its first Michelin star in 2014 in the first year of its operation.  Along with The Tasting Room and its one Michelin star for the second consecutive year in 2014, City of Dreams boasts the most Michelin restaurants in Cotai this year.
