Pullman Melbourne on the Park, together with Women Sport Australia, is set to honour Australian sportswomen and shine a spotlight on gender equality in sport at the inaugural WOMEN. SPORT. THE FUTURE event on Friday 3rd March, 2023.

Headlined by Melbourne Demons AFLW Premiership Captain and media personality Daisy Pearce, the luncheon will see a number of women in sport come together to discuss the quest for gender equality.

“I think it's important to continue the conversation around equality in Australian sport, to help us secure a more profitable and prosperous future for emerging female athletes,” Daisy said.

“WOMEN. SPORT. THE FUTURE provides another platform for our voices to be heard and I am proud to be part of the inaugural event.”

The luncheon will also showcase the key initiatives sporting organisations are implementing to help achieve gender equality and inclusivity across the industry.

“Pullman Melbourne on the Park is 'position perfect' to Melbourne's sporting precinct, located just minutes from the MCG and AAMI Park and close to the home grounds of some of Melbourne's most iconic sporting clubs,” says Melbourne Pullman Melbourne on the Park General Manager Stephan Leroy.

“WOMEN. SPORT. THE FUTURE provides an important opportunity to broaden the discussion around leadership and gender equality in sports, and Melbourne Pullman on the Park is proud of the association.  Our location, combined with the opportunity to support women's sport in Australia and give female athletes another platform to voice their opinions, has been the catalyst for this event.”

A number of leading Australian sports figures will partake in a panel discussion, including Australian diver and Olympic Medallist Melissa Wu; former member of the Australian women's soccer team The Matildas and Head of Women's Football - Women's World Cup and Legacy & Inclusion at Football Australia, Sarah Walsh; retired Netball and AFLW superstar and TV Presenter Sharni Norder (nee Layton); and Gen Dohrmann, President of Women Sport Australia and CEO of Table Tennis Victoria.

30% of funds raised through ticket sales will go to Women Sport Australia, a peak national advocacy body for women in sport. Since its inception in 2005, the not-for-profit organisation has worked with emerging sportswomen in Australia, individual sporting clubs and sporting bodies, decision makers and government bodies to improve gender equality and equity in sports in Australia.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Melbourne Pullman on the Park to champion women's voices in sport and continue to advocate for gender equality at every level in sport,” says WSA's President Gen Dohrmann.
