Mediterranean-Inspired Boutique Hotel Opens In St. Pete/Clearwater

Visit St. Pete - Clearwater

This month will see the opening of the latest boutique hotel in St. Pete/Clearwater on Florida's Gulf Coast - Hotel Zamora. Inspired by Spanish and Mediterranean cultures, the hotel will officially welcome guests from 14 June and is the first to be built on St. Pete Beach in 30 years.

Hotel Zamora is opening with 72 rooms below St. Pete Beach's first rooftop bar, offering sweeping vistas over the Intracoastal Waterway and Gulf of Mexico. Spanish-inspired décor sets this hotel apart with exposed cherry ceiling beams, wrought iron fixings on the doors and a colour scheme of orange, tan and turquoise. Room rates will start from £118 ($199) per night.

Hotel Zamora's Spanish theme continues into Castile, the high-end restaurant that will serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Lunch and dinner menus will include traditional tapas with a focus on seafood and local produce. Indeed, the property's gardens and grow-boxes on the rooftop terrace will supply around 20% of ingredients including edible flowers and salad vegetables.

Within an idyllic location on the white-sand shores of St. Pete Beach, guests at Hotel Zamora are well-placed to explore St. Pete/Clearwater's best-loved attractions and experiences. Just a 20-minute drive south of St. Pete Beach is Fort de Soto Park, a collection of five islands which are home to an amazing variety of wildlife including dolphins, manatees, herons and ospreys. Meanwhile just a 15-minute drive east to downtown St. Pete, holidaymakers will find the area's cultural gem, the Dali Museum, which is home to the largest collection of Dali's works outside of Europe.

The opening of Hotel Zamora spearheads a range of developments which will bring 2,000 new rooms to existing properties in the area within the next 18 months, in response to increasing demand in St. Pete/Clearwater. With visitation figures continuing to grow across both domestic and international markets in recent years, 2013 saw European visitors breach one million for the first time and the largest economic impact in the area's history was also achieved - more than $8.2 billion (£4.9 billion). Figures for 2014 continue to impress, with March welcoming a total of 660,000 overnight visitors and posting occupancy rates of 92%, accounting for a 3% increase on the same period last year.
