Medina Wins International Award

Medina Serviced Apartments

Medina Grand Adelaide Treasury apartment hotel has been recognised with an award of merit in the 2003 United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards.

Mr Richard A. Engelhardt, Regional Advisor for Culture in the Asia Pacific said, Medinas sophisticated conversion of the historic Adelaide Treasury building into a high-end hotel complex successfully demonstrates the commercial viability of re-using historic building stock.

"By opening the building to the general public, this conservation project secures an important chapter in the history of South Australia, he added.

Allan Vidor, Managing Director of the Medina Group said, The Medina Group places a great level of importance on respecting the integrity of the original buildings we have converted into serviced apartments, in Adelaide and other cities".

The Adelaide property, which is posting consistently high occupancy levels, is located on the corner of King William and Flinders Streets and has been leased for a 99 year period by Medina.

Other high profile heritage conservation projects by The Medina Group include: Medina Executive Sydney Central, the former heritage landmark GPO, located on the edge of Sydneys CBD and the new Medina Executive Barrack Plaza, to open in Perth in 2004.

Medina, which is actively looking for more opportunities to expand its management of heritage sites throughout Australia, currently operates properties in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Canberra.
