Media Invite To Symphony In The Flint Hills, Kansas

Kansas & Oklahoma Travel, Tourism and Recreation

The Fourth Annual Symphony in the Flint Hills Concert will be held on June 13 in a new 2009 concert location on the Tallgrass Prairie near Florence, Kansas.

We look forward to welcoming journalists to visit the magnificent Flint Hills for an afternoon and evening of pure delight. The afternoon will offer a wide range of experiences to enhance your knowledge and enjoyment of the Kansas Flint Hills. The evening will be filled with beautiful music celebrating the landscape, as only music can do. The Fourth Annual Symphony in the Flint Hills invites you to discover an 8,000 year landscape, the last significant expanse of tallgrass prairie remaining on the North American continent, the Flint Hills of Kansas.

Through the afternoon, concertgoers may participate in a variety of activities included in the ticket price, such as: Wildflower/prairie walks with Native Plant Society guides Birding with Audubon Society members Discussion of ranch life in the 1880s by regional historians and folklorist Old-time Flint Hills' cowboys telling tales Explanations of geology, water and the natural character of the Flint Hills Rides in authentic horse-drawn covered wagons Musical instrument "Petting Zoo" Presentations about regional Native American culture
