MCEC Chief Executive 20 Feb 2012
MCEC's new Chief Executive joins team

Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre

The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) team have welcomed its new Chief Executive Peter King, just in time for the 20th anniversary of the Asia-Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo (AIME) which is held annually at MCEC.

Peter King's announcement was made in December 2011 by Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Trust Chairman Mr Bob Annells. Peter joined the MCEC on Monday 6 February from the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS), one of the largest event and venue management organisations in Australia.

As Chief Executive at RAS, Peter managed the largest single event in Australia annually, being the Royal Easter Show and has played a leading role in securing Government investment for the new $65 million, 25,000 seats Main Arena Stadium which, among other things will host the Greater Western Sydney - AFL team.

Peter King said AIME, the leading meetings and incentives event in the Asia-Pacific region, would be a great start to his appointment at MCEC and an apt time to meet those exhibiting and attending the show.

"As the home of AIME, MCEC are proud to continue our sponsorship of the annual show and in its 20th year there are some particularly exciting events and highlights for exhibitors and visitors to enjoy; including a special guest performance by Australian singer Jessica Mauboy at the AIME hosted buyers lunch.

"MCEC is a world class facility and I am looking forward to ensuring the venue continues to deliver a world class event experience to our customers and visitors nationally and internationally, ensuring the industry continues to innovate," Peter added.

Nestled on the Yarra River amongst the emerging South Wharf Promenade precinct, the MCEC is Australia's largest, most flexible and advanced convention and exhibition facility.
