Marketing Campaign Targets World Travel Market in United Kingdom

Nashville - Music City

NASHVILLE, TN – Taxi cabs sporting Nashville's "Visit Music City" message will be showcased during World Travel Market next month in London. Since August, cabs in the London area have been carrying the Music City advertisements with 160 currently on the roads through mid-November. The city's Jack Daniel's Bash on Broadway: New Year's Eve in Music City, featuring the GRAMMY-winning Kings of Leon, is promoted on the seatbacks inside the cabs.

"As the leading global event for the travel industry, World Travel Market is an essential way to reach a large audience in a creative way," said Ken Levitan, Board Chair of the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp and President of Vector Management. "Nashville has so much to offer international visitors – from great live music to award-winning restaurants to a creative fashion scene. We will continue to focus on travelers from around the world to grow our visitor market and sustain our standing as a top global destination."

Five of the Music City taxis will offer free rides, courtesy of the NCVC, on Nov. 2 – the first day of World Travel Market – for three hours at Piccadilly Circus, one of the busiest squares in the heart of London. World Travel Market takes place Nov. 2 to 5. In addition to the marketing campaign centered on World Travel Market, the NCVC also advertises year-round on a London taxi cab. The cabdriver visited Nashville last year to learn more about the city's cultural and music attractions.

Starting in December, the NCVC-produced documentary, For the Love of Music: The Story of Nashville, will begin airing in the United Kingdom for a full year. The award-winning film depicts Nashville's evolution into the most diverse music scene in the world, making it a must-see destination for all music fans. The film tells the story behind the city's music industry through the eyes of the musicians, songwriters, producers and artists who live and breathe its inspiration.

The U.K. promotional campaign is one of several initiatives to expand Nashville's presence in international markets. Other programs include Rhythms of the South, a marketing partnership with Atlanta and New Orleans, and Country to Country, a collaboration with the Country Music Association to promote country music throughout the world.
