LAS VEGAS (April 2013) – Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, the destination that first brought a comprehensive resort experience to the Las Vegas Strip, is partnering with some of the leading brands in hospitality to redefine the resort experience with a property-wide transformation.
The 120-acre resort, home to one of North America's most successful convention centers, a dynamic events center, a white sand beach, world-class restaurants and more than 4,000 guest rooms and suites is collaborating with brands such as Morgans Hotel Group to introduce Delano, Cirque du Soleil and The Light Group to refocus the spotlight on the property where guests shed the tourist mantel and envelop themselves in the “Resortist” experience.
“Mandalay Bay prides itself on providing guests with a wide range of best-in-class resort experiences under one roof,” said Chuck Bowling, the resort's president & COO. “With the addition of an A-list production show, innovative nightlife, iconic hotel brands and distinct restaurant concepts, we're giving loyal guests new reasons to visit, and new guests reasons to experience Mandalay Bay for the first time.”
Mandalay Bay's transformation began in early 2013 with the guest room renovation of the Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas and the opening of Citizens Kitchen & Bar. During the next eight months Mandalay Bay will introduce new amenities including restaurants, a visionary nightclub experience, a dynamic dayclub, a new show from Cirque du Soleil centered around the King of Pop, Michael Jackson and Delano Las Vegas, a new all-suite boutique hotel within the resort.
Highlights of the transformation include:
Delano Las Vegas
Delano Las Vegas, an all-suite hotel at Mandalay Bay, will come to life in the place of THEhotel. MGM Resorts International and Morgans Hotel Group have partnered to transport the iconic Delano brand from the shores of South Beach to the Las Vegas Strip. All 1,100 suites will be redesigned with construction scheduled to begin this fall and an anticipated opening in early 2014.
Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas
Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas, located on floors 35-39 of Mandalay Bay, began the year in grand style – with a complete renovation of all 424 guest rooms and suites. This innovative design project was inspired in part by the vibrant Art Deco period, resulting in chic interiors that are simultaneously stylish, modern and reflective of the glamour and energy for which Las Vegas is known. Creating an energetic social hub that will evolve from espressos in the morning to draft beers and wine at night, Press is a new indoor/outdoor lobby bar at Four Seasons. Rooms Completed January 2013; Press lobby bar opened May 2013.
Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil
Cirque du Soleil, in partnership with The Estate of Michael Jackson, is creating a resident theatrical production dedicated to the King of Pop. Michael Jackson ONE will bring to life Michael's music while celebrating his career and legacy. Previews began May 23; Grand Opening June 29, 2013.
LIGHT Nightclub
LIGHT Nightclub, the first stand-alone nightclub presented by the partnership of The Light Group and Cirque du Soleil, is set to revolutionize the Las Vegas nightlife landscape. Designed to bring a unique, memorable experience each evening, LIGHT tantalizes senses with state-of-the-art production and theatrics. The venue recently announced the residency of global electronic music sensation Skrillex, Swedish House Mafia's Sebastian Ingrosso, man of the moment Zedd and rising star Baauer. Opened May 2013.
DAYLIGHT Beach Club
Opening in time for the 2013 summer season, DAYLIGHT Beach Club is a departure from traditional Vegas pool parties, transporting guests from the hustle and bustle of The Strip to an upscale and chic tropical oasis. Centered around a luxurious pool with three wet decks, the 5,000-person DAYLIGHT Beach Club is the perfect setting to indulge. With 50,000 square feet of flexible outdoor space, DAYLIGHT allows the party to easily transition from day to night, always with Mandalay Bay as the backdrop. Opening May 2013.
Kumi
Created by Light Group, Kumi will offer fun and approachable Japanese cuisine using fresh and innovative ingredients. The menu will combine Chef Toshiyuki Motoyama's traditional edomae sushi background with influences of Thai, Peruvian and Latin cultures. Opening summer 2013.
Citizens Kitchen & Bar
Citizens Kitchen & Bar features Light Group's Executive Chef Brian Massie's creative and contemporary take on American comfort food. The menu features a wide range of signature favorites for breakfast, lunch and dinner with highlights including Maryland Blue Crab Cakes, Southern Fried Chicken and Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf. Opened January 2013.
Red Square
The Light Group relaunched the popular restaurant as a revitalized dinner, cocktail and nightlife destination. The exquisite menu – featuring easy-to-share plates including Tuna Tartare, Chicken Kiev with Bacon Brussels Sprouts and an impressive caviar selection – takes on contemporary American favorites and infuses them with exciting Russian influences. Opened December 2012.
Bowling added, “And these aren't even all of the changes we have in store for Mandalay Bay. We look forward to unveiling details surrounding additional projects in the coming months.”
