The Queen and Prince Philip will visit Malta next month attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in the capital Valletta (27-29 November). The Queen has a 'deep affection' for Malta where she lived for extended periods between 1949 and 1951 as a naval officer's wife, when the Duke was posted there with the Mediterranean Fleet.
The Royal couple's last visit to the island was in 2007 when they travelled there to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. This 'regal island' is not only a firm favourite with the Queen but those who enjoy some of the finest guided walks in the southern Med.
