Time and tradition have created festivals deeply rooted within the community spirit. The year is punctuated with festivals, giving visitors a glimpse of the various aspects of what it means to be Malaysian.

The following are just a taste of the Malaysian revelry held regularly throughout the country. The Colours Of Malaysia May/June This month-long celebration beginning annually in late May is a presentation of the nation�s arts, culture and tradition. The festival showcases Malaysian cultural activities, handicrafts, mouth-watering cuisine and traditional costumes. It is launched with a dazzling parade in Kuala Lumpur and continues throughout the country in celebrations involving music, dance, cultural displays, food and performances. The Water Festival April / May Celebrate alongside festive locals in a month-long tribute to Malaysia's premier natural aquatic wonders. Beginning each year in mid-April, spirited visitors can get involved in the festival by partaking in community events such as �catch the duck� and �log walking� competitions. Kayaking, canoeing and Jet Ski races are available for the adventurous. The more leisurely participants embark on inspiring beach walks or simply dive, snorkel or swim. Quality Discounts at the Malaysia Mega Sale March / August / November The Malaysia Mega sale is a thriving congregation of local and international emporiums, designer boutiques and local stores throughout the country, offering shoppers month-long genuine discounts. The shopping extravaganza presents buyers with a huge variety of product. Top quality goods are on offer together with absolute bargain basement items.

The Malaysian Mega Sale is coordinated around the country three times a year; 1-30 March, 2-31August and again 8-28 November. Feed your Fancy at the Food and Fruit Festival July Malaysia flaunts its culinary delicacies in an international exhibition of sensory indulgence. Delighted guests experience spicy savoury dishes and exotic fruits in a �yin and yang� inspired balance.

Merdeka Day Parade August Parades and parties mark the Malaysian �Merdeka� (independence) day. The celebration begins the evening before the parade with concerts and festivities, involving the media and well-known Malaysian identities. The Parade takes place 31August each year. This day of pride and celebration is proudly attended by the King, government leaders and throngs of proud citizens.
