19 Feb 2018
16 February 2018 – Macao Government Tourism Office will be participating in the TravMedia International Media Marketplace at London's QEII Centre on 12 March.
Following its designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy last October, this year Macao is celebrating the 2018 Macao Year of Gastronomy. Its legendary food scene has always been a distinctive element of Macao's “east meets west” culture and draws visitors from around the world.
Other 2018 highlights include:
- Exciting new hotel openings including the US$3.4 billion MGM Cotai (opened on 13 February) featuring Asia's first dynamic theatre and dining concepts from four renowned celebrity chefs; and two properties due to open later this year. Morpheus in the City of Dreams complex was designed by the late Dame Zaha Hadid and will feature two restaurants from Alain Ducasse, and The Grand Lisboa Palace will feature three hotels including the world's first Karl Lagerfeld Hotel.
- The latest editions of two of Macao's dazzling December events – the third edition of the Macao International Film Festival & Awards, which last year welcomed Hollywood star Jeremy Renner to the red carpet, and the Macao Light Festival, which lights up Macao's key sites with spectacular light installations and projections.
Finally, Macao is set to become even more accessible for UK visitors with the opening of the much-anticipated Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge, which will give direct road access between Macao and Hong Kong. Opening date to be confirmed.
Just 40 miles from Hong Kong on China's south coast Macao is one of Asia's most vibrant and fascinating destinations. It offers a world class hotel, dining, shopping and entertainment scene, whilst retaining its unique Portuguese-Chinese culture in its UNESCO World Heritage listed architecture, colourful events and fusion cuisine.
