Hotel Monte Mulini has launched a wine break combining luxury accommodation in the beautiful coastal town of Rovinj and a wine tour in the surrounding region of Istria, Croatia, famed for its gourmet food and award-winning wines.
Coinciding with the wine harvest and truffle season, from September to early November, the package provides an excellent way to meet talented winemakers and indulge in world-class food and fine wine while enjoying the Mediterranean's mild climes.
The "Wine Roads of Istria" package for two adults includes two nights' accommodation in a Premium room with breakfast at Hotel Monte Mulini, a half-day guided excursion with tastings at two wineries, a sumptuous four-course dinner at one of Istria's most acclaimed fine dining restaurants, the Wine Vault, complimentary use of the spa, and 20% discount on spa treatments.
Over the half-day private excursion, guests are led through Istria's mysterious inland in a luxury carrier to two boutique family-run wineries, where reds and whites made from the region's main grape varieties −Teran, Istrian Malvasia, and Istrian Muscat − are presented with local delicacies, such as Istrian pršut (cured ham), cheeses and olive oil.
Tastings can be booked at two of three selected cellars, including Arman, Benvenuti, and Matošević, producer of three wines recently introduced by Isa Bal, one of the world's top sommeliers, to Heston Blumenthal's wine list at The Fat Duck.
The two-night package is available between 07 September and 02 November 2013, and the price starts at 870 Euros for two people sharing a Premium room.
