Luxury New Forest Hotel celebrates veganism – and not just on World Vegan Day
This year's World Vegan Day on November 1 comes at the end of a year in which the nation's appetite for veganism has skyrocketed.
With more than 3.5 million Brits now identifying as vegan, supermarkets are reporting surging sales of vegan products and more and more restaurants are changing their menus to cater for the growing vegan market.
Embracing veganism with vigour, luxury New Forest hotel Careys Manor is the perfect place for travellers who want to reduce their impact on the planet, with plant-based menus available as an option at each of its three restaurants, cruelty-free toiletries, and a 10 per cent discount for all guests travelling to the hotel without their car.
Careys Manor offers a selection of vegetarian and vegan options at its Thai Zen Garden restaurant and French bistro Le Blaireau. A nutrient-rich, plant-based Spring Green breakfast and all-day menu has also been devised under the guidance of botanical superfood company Spring Green London,
At modern British restaurant Cambium, head chef Alistair Craig has devised a bespoke vegan tasting menu and vegan afternoon tea.
Tasting Menu dishes include fennel and cucumber granita with crème fraiche sorbet and espelette pepper, pea and mint agnolotti with lemon balm and preserved lemon, Morrocan-spiced onion orzotto with salt baked and pickled vegetables, and roasted aubergine with tomato, pomegranate molasses and panisse.
Delicious desserts feature options like New Forest raspberry sorbet with rose granita and candied pistachios, and New Forest strawberry and beetroot sorbet with strawberries and lemon verbena.
A vegan afternoon tea features a selection of tempting treats, including a chocolate mousse pot, a seasonal fruit slice, a golden syrup rice crispy cake, and a coconut milk truffle, all served alongside a selection of open and finger sandwiches.
Careys Manor's General Manager Steve Woodrow said: “We have seen that veganism has been growing fast over the last few years and have made sure everyone will find something to love when they come to stay with us.
“Here at Careys Manor, we put traceability above profit and, to cut food miles, we use free-range meat and sustainable seafood from across the New Forest.
“We have also eliminated plastic straws, stirrers and cups, recycle our cooking oil into green energy, and partner with Clean Conscience, who recycle toiletries for developing countries.”
“Our vegan tasting menu is delicious – whether you eat a plant-based diet or follow a more flexitarian approach.”
The hotel's luxury Thai SenSpa, with its world-class hydrotherapy pool and fitness suite, has also introduced a range of products from vegan and organic skincare specialists SKN-RG.
