Silky Oaks Lodge & Healing Waters Spa

Silky Oaks Lodge launches new high-end Billabong Suites

Luxurious advanced eco-destinationSilky Oaks Lodge has raised the bar for pampering and indulgence in a hidden slice of Far North Queensland paradise. Nestled on the edge of the Daintree National Park and surrounded by 88 acres of tropical rainforest, Silky Oaks Lodge now offers guests a new standard of luxury accommodation.

Launched this month, the Lodge's Billabong Suites are a unique and indulgent addition to Silky Oaks' already luxurious Deluxe Treehouses and Riverhouses. Set in a prime position on the renowned Mossman River and nearby Mossman Gorge, the spacious Billabong Suites offer serene views across the water to the oldest living rainforest on the planet.

These superbly designed stand-alone suites incorporate custom designed furniture made from local sustainable timbers, open plan living areas, Bose sound system, complimentary mini bar, library and a private balcony complete with hammock and day bedoverlooking the rapids of the rainforest river.

"We are excited to launch the new Billabong Suites in conjunction with our extensive refurbishment of Silky Oaks Lodge," says managing director and owner Paul Van Min. "Silky Oaks Lodge has always been such a special place and we hope that our work will ensure that it continues to be just that for years to come."

Adding another layer of luxury to the Silky Oaks experience is the Lodge's in-house Healing Waters Spa. Awarded as Australia's best luxury spa at the "World Luxury Spa Awards" in 2011, the Healing Waters Spa offers seven treatment rooms including Vichy showers overlooking the rainforest and river.

With floor to ceiling windows the spa connects to the natural beauty outdoors, reinforcing the nexus between nature and healing. Rejuvenation through indulgent treatments such as steam rituals, massage therapies and body wraps are enhanced by the use of natural, Australian-produced Sodashi products.

Exquisite food is an integral part of the sensory Silky Oaks experience, with executive chef Laurent Pedemay dedicated to serving thoughtful, inspired dishes from the Treehouse Restaurant. Overlookingthe spectacular Mossman River, the restaurant is the region's premium dining destination.

Pan fried tiger prawns, sand crab and celeriac remoulade, trout pearls and seafood bisque or twice cooked Thai glazed pork belly on Asian herb and vegetable salad with soy and sesame dressing are sure to please the most discerning palate.

"My food philosophy is to bring together the best in local, seasonal produce and deliver food that is representative of Silky Oaks' surroundings and raison d'être. Being located in a tropical climate means my food is light and uses a lot of vibrant Asian flavours." Laurent says.

Pricing for the Billabong Suites is $998 per night for one and two night stays, and $878 for three or more nights. Rates are based on single and double occupancy and are inclusive of full gourmet tropical breakfast, mini bar (stocked to suit), daily newspapers, use of river canoes, mountain bikes, gym, tennis court and yoga classes or guided rainforest walks.

Silky Oaks Lodge is situated 1 hour north of Cairns and 15 minutes north of Port Douglas. Combining luxury with the oldest living rainforest, guests can enjoy stunning design, fine dining and spa treatments at the Healing Waters Spa whilst being completely in touch with nature. With Advanced Eco Certification, Silky Oaks Lodge is luxurious and relaxing, intimate and sophisticated.  Accommodation is in luxurious stand-alone treehouses in three distinct styles, each with large balconies, hammocks and spa baths, offering guests a uniquely tranquil escape in the most beautiful of settings.
