Flights now bookable - New Business Class onboard
Lufthansa passengers from Hong Kong can now book flights with the new Boeing 747-8. Tickets for flights on the Hong-Kong-Frankfurt route with the Lufthansa Boeing flagship are now on sale. From 31 March, the new "Queen of the Skies" will depart daily from Frankfurt for Hong Kong at 22.05 hrs, operating under flight number LH 796. The scheduled arrival time in Hong Kong is 15:10 hrs on the next day. Flight LH 797 will return to its home base in Frankfurt from Hong Kong at 23:20 hrs landing at 5.30 hrs. "We are very excited to be the first airline to operate the 21st century version of the legendary 747 aircraft in Hong Kong", says Andrew Bunn, General Manager Hong Kong, Taiwan and South China of Lufthansa German Airlines. "Hong Kong is a legendary aviation hub - it has seen many exciting B747 services during the past 40 years of aviation history. Now Lufthansa brings back the legendary Jumbo Jet, with the latest features in passenger comfort in all classes to Hong Kong", says Bunn.
The B 747-8 Intercontinental currently flies from Lufthansa's hub in Frankfurt to Washington, Los Angeles, New Delhi and Bangalore. On board, Lufthansa passengers can enjoy all new cabins of Lufthansa, especially the new Business Class, which includes a seat that can be converted at the press of a button into a horizontal sleeping surface measuring 1.98 meters in length. The new seat offers exceptional comfort for passengers in a sitting or recumbent position, intuitive adjustment features, additional storage space and enhanced entertainment system. The Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental is a completely new aircraft that builds upon the positive features of the Boeing 747 series, Lufthansa's long-haul workhorse for more than 40 years. The aircraft's wings have significantly improved aerodynamics and newly developed wingtips. The aircraft also provides tangible improvements in terms of eco-efficiency. The GEnx-2B engines consume less fuel and achieve a 15 per cent improvement in fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions per passenger. In addition, noise emissions have been reduced by 30 per cent. To date, Lufthansa has ordered a total of 19 Boeing 747-8 aircraft. The Boeing 747-8 is the world's longest aircraft: 76.3 metres long, 5.6 metres longer than its predecessor, the Boeing 747-400. The new Lufthansa Jumbo can seat 386 passengers: eight in First Class, 80 in Business Class and 298 in Economy Class.
