Visitors to Lucernes luxury Park Hotel Weggis this festive season will be welcomed by a magical display of light created specially for the hotel by internationally renowned Swiss light artist, Gerry Hofstetter whose extraordinary work has featured on buildings, landscapes and iconic landmarks worldwide.
The former banker and helicopter pilot, turned light designer is well know for his conversion of buildings, monuments and even mountains into temporary art objects through the use of projected light. His work has received great acclaim for its appeal to the aesthetic and sensory feelings of his audiences.
His lighting creations always feature hidden messages, for example, in 2003, his contribution to the UNO year of the water, depicted icebergs in a light art exhibition in a bid to draw international attention to the Antarctic and to the value and threat of our water resources.
Gerry Hofstetter is internationally recognised as one of the worlds leading light artist and the only one to create fading light art works in these dimensions. Famous examples of his work feature on Switzerlands government building in Bern, the castle in Gruyres, the Swiss state museum in Zurich and the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Commenting on the hotels illuminations by Gerry Hofstetter, Mr. Peter Kampfer, General Manager said, The Park Hotel Weggis has made quite a name for itself as an unusual combination of historic art nouveau and contemporary design, as seen in our Apsara Suites and Aquarius Hall with its innovative and unique lighting system, and this special Christmas light show underlines our commitment to creating something new and exciting for our guests and to making a bold design statement for all in Weggis and Lucerne to enjoy.
The Park Hotel Weggis will get dressed for the Festive Season by Gerry Hofstetter every evening from December 5, 2008 through to January 4, 2009
