Sandridge Boathouse
You won't want to leave this waterside cottage on the River Dart. Built as a bathing house in 1760, the only sounds are gently lapping water and breeze in the trees. This is one of the most secluded, private, romantic places in south Devon. French windows fold back, revealing a covered balcony over the river. It's beautifully decorated in soft blues and creams, with six foot bed and a deep sofa by the cosy woodburner. This is a magical haven from almost everything.

Saltwind Granary
In meadows, three miles from picturesque Clovelly with its little harbour and traffic-free cobbled streets worn by donkeys' hooves, is a gorgeous cottage straight out of the pages of a glossy interior design magazine.
